Batley Sparkle: Post #6008

Hello darlings, it’s your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, reporting live from the absolutely charming town of Batley! Can you believe it's Post #6008 already? Where does the time go? I feel like I've been prancing about in my pink tutus, sharing my sparkly adventures with you lovelies, forever!

This little Yorkshire town really is a hidden gem. It's just so darn adorable. I'm never going to leave, I feel it. The people are warm and welcoming (I always find the friendliest faces up North!), the atmosphere is absolutely buzzing, and… wait for it… the shops are brimming with the most delightful vintage clothes!

I found the most beautiful, sequined 1970s party dress. Seriously, honey, I can't even. A vision in turquoise and gold, it'll look absolutely phenomenal with my favourite pink tulle tutu! (A pink tutu for every occasion, you know the drill).

Speaking of pink tutus, let’s talk about the reason I decided to bring my show to Batley – the Batley Town Hall. This grand, Victorian masterpiece is exactly the type of venue where I can unleash my inner sparkly queen. Honestly, you can practically smell the drama and glamour radiating from this place. Just the way I like it!

From Science Labs to Stage Lights

The best thing about this trip is that I got to finally share my performance with my fabulous mum and grandma! They have been the best supporters ever, driving me to so many dance classes (and driving me to many places with a pink tutu, it's tough but I'm glamorous, you see). Now, they get to see what it all looks like with those bright, sparkly lights! I really do it all for them! But the greatest thrill is just knowing they are always my biggest fans!

To tell you the truth, I used to hate the idea of drag. When I started at university, a science student you see (that’s the background… think a lab rather than limelight ), the only outfit I had on was my uniform! All in all, quite boring, let’s be honest, it just wouldn't be me! But I saw this big charity fundraiser for a children's hospital where they needed volunteers and guess what? I landed on wearing a tutu! I even had pink feathers! I mean… pink feathers on a tutu?! Let me tell you, it changed everything! That tutu sparked something in me. I suddenly realised - I just had to live in a tutu. That's how Pink Tutu Sparkles was born. The whole universe opened up in that pink fluffy cloud!

And don't get me started on the dance classes. Yes, you know me, it’s not just for show – I love to get my tutu'd self down to the Batley Dance Centre for some seriously graceful movements! (Okay, sometimes graceful... but the important thing is sparkle). The teacher was actually lovely; super supportive, so she totally embraced my, um… unique style. My best trick in a ballet class is how I always make my big pink tulle skirt move beautifully with the graceful arm and leg moves, I told you I was a true performer!

The ballet lessons are a good bit of fun for the girly girl side of me, but sometimes I need to be more urban. You see, I think everyone has an inner performer; all it takes is a bit of sparkle and oomph. That's why I made sure I stopped by the amazing Batley Variety Club to soak up the vibes and get inspired! I am talking serious, world-class dance, honey! So, my latest creative goal is to learn some street ballet, like the guys on the club stages do! And trust me, a pink tutu is totally going to be part of that look! You can see how excited I am? It’s all coming together! I love mixing the classic beauty of ballet with street moves – the mix of these different dance styles just takes it to another level. Every single level!

So there you have it – my absolutely pinktastic adventure in Batley. From sparkling gowns to fabulous dance moves and everything pink in-between! It’s honestly a beautiful thing to have so much support and love from the audience, the dancers and my mum and grandma - and that's how the true magic of this journey starts, honey! The sparkly fun never stops when your heart is as full as mine! Until next time, you lovelies, keep sparkling!
