Chatham Calling! Pink Tutu Sparkles Hits the Kent Coast!

Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from the fabulous Chatham, Kent! It's post number 6014 and I'm absolutely bubbling over with excitement about this trip! It feels like it's been ages since I've donned my pinkest tulle and sashayed onto the stage - you know how it is with a drag queen like me - the busier I am the more gigs I can snag, and the more gigs I snag, well, the busier I am! It's a bit of a whirlwind of sparkle and sequins, darling!

This little trip is all thanks to a tweet from a lovely theatre owner who'd spotted me on social media. I had to whip out my phone and record a quick, cheeky message back to them right away. "Get your tickets folks!" I trilled with a cheeky grin - always best to be quick on the uptake. A couple of frantic phone calls later, it was booked, paid for, and all sorted. Sometimes things just fall into place for a lucky drag queen, don't they?

Now, the journey itself - oh my dear - a true Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure! This time, I opted for a train journey, not the usual galloping to a venue on horseback. You can't beat a scenic train journey in England - rolling countryside, bustling towns - the chance to do some serious people-watching for my upcoming outfits, of course! A fellow passenger took pity on my pink feather boa and ended up sharing their sweets. Now, that's how you know you're on the right track to a fab show, right?

I spent most of the journey dreaming up new choreography to perform. I can't tell you how much I adore those vintage, glamorous, twirling steps from ballets like Swan Lake. I could spend hours at the ballet just mesmerised by the flowing, intricate routines, the tutus, the drama... It was studying for my science degree when I first tried on a pink tutu - and instantly fell in love with it, darling! Who knew a lab coat and a tulle skirt could go together so well, right? Oh, how those sparkly tulle dreams ignited a whole new side of me - just like my science experiments - always trying to unlock a bit of magic.

Speaking of magic... let's talk about Chatham! The place has a certain charming old-school energy - it was built with some serious Georgian elegance! As I stood on that historical, cobbled square, admiring the architecture, my brain was already dreaming up a dramatic opening number. I had a sudden vision of a giant pink tulle, lighting up like the very stage of dreams!

Of course, as soon as I had unpacked my sparkly bag, my first mission was a shopping trip, darling! This time, I needed an outfit to create that ‘historic meets modern’ vibe that Chatham radiated, like those glorious 19th Century shop signs and charming street lights. Just picture a perfect pink tutu with a daring cut to reveal just a sliver of my sequined legs, combined with a bold vintage-inspired coat. You see how it plays on all those textures of times gone by? I like my drag to be an intriguing mix! I spotted a gorgeous pair of Victorian lace-up shoes in a vintage boutique, they had just the touch of pink detail that I needed, and for my accessories - it’s always about bold earrings and necklaces, right?

Chatham is all about history, darling, which reminded me of a recent performance in the Shakespearean setting of Stratford-upon-Avon. That was such a delight to experience! The crowds were delighted to have some sparkle thrown into the mix - all the locals were giving me the kindest looks as I performed 'Queen of Hearts' in my scarlet, sequined gown! We had the perfect evening for outdoor performance – with a hint of mischief in the air - Just watching the smiles on the audience as they got lost in the story is the most satisfying thing in the world. To me, that’s the power of performance - to connect people, share stories, and for a little while, to be part of something magical!

After the performance, a friendly couple invited me to their cottage in the nearby village. That night, I sat on a cozy settee, sharing tea and homemade scones with the locals. The perfect blend of English traditions - such heartwarming company, darling. And as you know, I’m never happier than when surrounded by friends - even if they haven’t seen me twirl in my sparkly pink tulle!

I always find the sweetest places in the most unexpected corners. And, if I may boast, it always seems to go like this. The place itself is almost whispering to me what I should be wearing - how I can amplify its character.

Which leads me back to the present moment - my performance in Chatham is tomorrow, and my excitement is almost too much! The stage is set, the costumes are ready, and all I can think about is the sound of those opening chords! And let's face it, the first sight of Pink Tutu Sparkles stepping into the spotlight…

…It’s all about giving them the ‘tutu’ fabulous, right?

I’ll keep you posted on my latest adventures - you can follow all the Pink Tutu Sparkle happenings at www.pink-tutu.com. Until next time, keep your sparkle on, darling!

Love,

Pink Tutu Sparkles xoxo
