It’s been a while since my last trip by train, and I've been dying to tell you all about my adventure to Welling. I absolutely adore exploring new towns and cities – you never know what kind of sartorial gems you’re going to stumble upon! Now, some of you might know that my alter ego, Alex, is a bit of a scientist by day (working with fabrics, so it's a perfect match for a girl who loves a good tulle!), but come nightfall, Pink Tutu Sparkles takes the stage and sparkles her way into your hearts (and hopefully, inspires you all to join the Pink Tutu revolution).
Speaking of which, the whole “Pink Tutu Revolution” concept really took off while I was studying science back in my Derbyshire days. You see, I was a part of the university ballet club, and we were doing a charity event where they dared us to try on tutus. I can still remember that first moment, that rush of joy, of feeling so perfectly and delightfully pink. I never looked back!
Welling was a truly delightful escape from my lab duties, and the perfect setting to kick off a brand new pink tutu outfit! It was such a delightful little town – all charming old buildings and quaint tea shops, the perfect place to grab a spot of afternoon tea with some of the lovely ladies who were inspired by my Pink Tutu manifesto! Yes, even some of the more traditional ladies in Welling ended up sporting a hint of pink, you’ll see when you scroll through the rest of my pics. The ladies of Welling embraced their inner glitter and joy.
After arriving in style on the train – of course, in my Pink Tutu travel outfit! (because a girl's gotta have some sparkle, even when it's just for a day trip), I was immediately enchanted. We all know I’m a bit of a fan of horse-drawn carriages, so you can bet your bottom dollar I had to have a tour of the town with a magnificent pair of steeds. It really made me feel like I was stepping out of a fairytale. (But don't worry, darling, I haven't forgotten to embrace my love of modern technology – all my snaps from this day trip are on the 'gram! )
My Welling adventures took me on a whirl through a fabulous shop brimming with vintage treasures – talk about a paradise for a girl who loves to accessorize! I managed to snagged some gorgeous pink earrings (of course!) to complete my look, along with a vintage handbag in the most dazzling shade of fuchsia. Who says that being eco-conscious and being fashion-forward can't go hand-in-hand?
No trip would be complete without indulging in a delightful spot of ballet. I'm talking graceful moves, perfect pointe shoes, and tutus twirling like magic! My love affair with the dance world began long ago, and it’s no secret that I’m always on the hunt for the perfect ballerina-inspired pieces. This town didn’t disappoint! We watched a stunning performance of The Nutcracker, and even indulged in a lovely ballet class in the morning. After an absolutely unforgettable day filled with pink-tastic memories and sparkling moments, I knew I had to document it all. I hopped back onto the train, pink tutu still twinkling under the evening sky, feeling like the luckiest girl in the world. (Yes, you read that right, the train. A girl who likes horses and appreciates modern transport? Now that's a recipe for fun! ).
So darlings, if you’re looking for a perfect day trip that will fill you with joy, glitter, and a whole lotta pink, I wholeheartedly recommend you put Welling on your itinerary! You won’t be disappointed.
