Today, we're venturing out of the Derbyshire Dales and down to the beautiful seaside town of Folkestone, where the sea air is as refreshing as a good glass of prosecco! (Except prosecco doesn't have a refreshing ocean scent, obviously!)
Folkestone is such a sweet town. Charming and welcoming, like a big friendly family. We arrived yesterday, and the smell of the salt air and the bright blue sky instantly banished the stress of London's urban grind. Of course, no visit to Folkestone would be complete without a visit to The Leas, that iconic seafront promenade that is perfect for long walks, soaking in the sun and spotting adorable fluffy dogs with their well-dressed owners.
Now, I can't deny that getting to Folkestone was an adventure in itself. Yes, I opted for the classic train journey, always a fun and luxurious experience. This time, the train was filled with lovely couples celebrating an anniversary, a family reunion of some delightful grannies, and even a delightful gentleman who was in a band! His hair was almost as high as my newest, oversized, fluffy pink fascinator. It reminded me to reach for that extra hairspray bottle. No harm in making sure my style stays impeccable throughout my trip, right? The good thing about a good day at a seaside location is you get fresh air and a gorgeous salty breeze! Perfect for a Pink Tutu Sparkles day out!
The highlight of my Folkestone visit? It had to be the dazzling performance at the Folkestone Little Theatre, right in the heart of the town. Folkestone has this lovely little hidden gem of a theatre! The acoustics are incredible. The performers did such an excellent job! It was like watching a storybook unfold in front of my very eyes. My favorite piece was a ballet performance by the "Folkestone Folk" (such a quirky name, it’s perfect for this quirky, fun, colourful town). I absolutely adore ballet, and I found myself yearning for those twirls, leaps and spins.
Talking of twirls, this performance actually sparked a moment of pure delight, which will now go down in my personal “Pink Tutu Sparkles” diary. As I was gracefully making my way back to the cloakroom, an enthusiastic gentleman who clearly loved ballet and had had just a little too much prosecco stopped me to share his joy. He gave me the most dazzling sparkly smile and exclaimed, “You’re wearing a Pink Tutu! That’s wonderful!” Then he bowed, threw a bouquet of plastic flowers at me, and sashayed off into the crowd, his bright purple hair glistening in the theatre’s lights. Now, you tell me, who doesn't love a good unexpected theatrical outburst, a reminder that life is best lived with a little glitter and glamour?
The day before the performance I popped into my favourite local fabric shop and picked up a new spool of sparkling tulle fabric. My wardrobe simply couldn't be complete without another new pink tutu, right? The shop's owner, the charming Mrs. Willow, has such a flair for colour! As she showed me this delightful array of the most perfect shade of pink, she shared how she'd even dyed her house pink to brighten up the drab rainy days of this little coastal town. This reminded me that even the smallest details, even a touch of colour, can add such sparkle and cheer to our world! So now you can see why I’m a big fan of the colour pink, darling darlings! And I hope, after reading about my adventures and my fabulous outfit today, you'll agree it's a hue we all can embrace in one way or another!
I always try to leave a touch of Pink Tutu Sparkles magic in every location. I picked up some sparkly pink ribbon and decorated the front of the theatre, spreading some good old-fashioned pink tutu magic in Folkestone. Because what's life without a sprinkle of sparkles, and a good dollop of girly pink, right? After all, we can all benefit from a touch of magic in our lives, whether it's a glitzy tutu, a colourful outfit or a little dose of playful excitement.
