Pink Tutu Sparkles Hits Lyon: Post 6499

Oh my darlings! It's your favourite tutu-wearing diva, Pink Tutu Sparkles, bringing you the latest fabulous frocks and frolics from the fabulous city of Lyon, France! (That's Ly-ohn for our American chums.) Get ready to shimmy and sparkle because this blog is going to be pink-tastic!

As a true Queen of Pink, Lyon, a city of pink granite, just had to be on my list. How else would I add to my vast, and by vast I mean, completely bursting out the wardrobe door vast pink tutu collection? After all, I am Pink Tutu Sparkles. Tututively I had to get my twirling self to Lyon. But not to worry darlings, this Queen's travel fund is very secure. With so many fab gigs to grace in the past month, I'm positively flush. That’s a real-life queen perk. This week, I have a fab night club performance planned and even got a private engagement, yes darling, at a little soirée at a castle just outside Lyon. I mean, is this fabulousness not giving you the vapours? (And no I am not going to wear a tutu for the soirée, one does need a little discretion at an ahem serious gathering, but I will be adorned in pink.) This Queen’s travels don’t come from some sugar daddy’s wealth. This pink princess works very hard to indulge her pink and tutu desires!

Getting here, oh darling, was half the adventure. It was simply divine. I caught a train to Dover, and boarded the Eurostar, I am so happy they're building tunnels for this kind of luxury! If anyone wants a top-tip from Pink Tutu Sparkles: a real queen never travels economy. Always choose the luxury carriage if you can! It is the little things like fine linen cushions and unlimited sparkling (grape) juice, and knowing the conductor will bow whenever I look in his direction that really make it all worthwhile, especially after a long journey. It’s like a private royal box - and I am always Queen of My Domain. Speaking of queens, if there were a throne on this Eurostar, you just know it would have been upholstered in hot pink silk. I’m sure I saw a couple of young chaps gazing enviously at me and my sparkly tiara, which I just can’t resist adding to a train journey for a dash of pink princess glamour! What can I say? I know how to arrive!

Speaking of sparkly, that reminds me to talk about Lyon and pink granite, which is what I’m looking for as soon as I reach my luxurious hotel. I know the city is supposed to be all about cuisine, (Oh Darling, and let's just say it - Lyon’s butcher’s shop’s and butchers’ guilds’ history is seriously un glamorous,) and silk. Silk. Yes! Think The Fabric of the Universe, pink silk. This princess wants pink silk so we can have some lovely garments custom-made in silk! But first, oh first I had to take to the pink streets to find a new addition for my pink tutu collection and have a browse in a pink granite store! Of course, it wasn’t quite what I thought. The stone in these shops was really pink! Too pink, darlings, I can't explain it. Just not a proper fashion pink colour. So, Pink Tutu Sparkles did what any real queen would do and made a day of it, wandering through the markets and trying on lovely things to add to my wardrobe!

Yes, it was such a wonderful adventure. You know I'm not all about glitter, darlings. Despite appearances, I am quite a sensitive, thoughtful kind of queen, I like the finer things. I think one should get to know a city's heart, its culture, you know, not just hit the glitzy nightlife - as tempting as that may be. Oh, but you're so lucky I took the trip for you, darling. Because Pink Tutu Sparkles had an extraordinary time and so should you. In my world, there’s nothing like getting the low-down from a real princess!

After a wander around the Place des Terreaux (and I can say in advance it was nothing short of terrific darling!) I had to try and get myself some beautiful handmade pink fabric and then the local artisans are making it into a special custom-made, pink silk ballet outfit! You just wait. If this Queen says something’s special - well you just know it’s gonna be absolutely magnificent!! It will look incredible when I put on my *custom-made, *very special* pink tutu for this fabulous gig tonight - but let's get one thing very clear - not to the castle!

Of course I couldn’t forget the theatre while in Lyon. This Princess just had to find a real pink ballet dress, didn't I, my lovely darlings. And then what do I find on the menu for this weekend but "The Nutcracker"! The Nutcracker and a gorgeous new ballet dress from a Lyon store, yes! A new ballet outfit from one of those grand French fashion houses that made this trip so completely magnificent!!

It was simply sublime! A performance in one of the grandest Parisian venues I have ever been to – imagine marble staircases leading down to an amazing marble hall! And it’s a French version - oh so swoony. And it's not a very conventional ballet show - I felt like I was at a ballet version of "Grease." The orchestra sounded absolutely fantastic. I'm off to find my latest outfit to wear for next week's post and see how much of it is actually suitable for next week's club gig! Keep checking for the next instalment.

See you in Pink Land,
