Hello, darlings! 💖 Pink Tutu Sparkles here, your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing drag queen, signing in for post number 6526 on the fabulous www.pink-tutu.com. Today’s adventure takes me to Dudley, a charming little town in the Midlands, and believe me, it was an absolute blast!
Dudley itself is like a time capsule, with a beautiful castle, a gorgeous canal, and some absolutely divine vintage shops, just begging to be explored! But of course, for me, the real highlight was the fabulous ballet performance at the town theatre! Oh, darling, I could have watched those graceful ballerinas all night, twirling their way through the elegant choreography, the tutus floating like clouds. Just divine! I swear, every time I watch ballet, it makes me want to wear a tutu for a whole week straight!
Speaking of tutus, you’ll never guess what happened before the show! I was walking down the high street, just brimming with excitement, and suddenly this adorable little girl, barely four years old, with eyes as big as saucers, points at my pink tutu. She comes bounding up to me, practically bouncing off the pavement, and squeals, “Are you a ballerina?!” Oh, the joy! I knelt down, gave her the most dramatic curtsy I could manage, and told her, "I'm a Pink Tutu Sparkles, but dancing is my passion!” She just stared at me for a moment, eyes wide, and then grinned. She went rushing off to her mum, and as they walked past, I heard her shout, “I want a pink tutu!” Oh, the magic! 🥰
That encounter, darlings, is what makes all the travel and effort so worthwhile. To spread a little sparkle and joy, especially in the younger generation. Because if that tiny girl dreams of wearing a tutu, imagine the amazing things she'll achieve in life!
I got to Dudley by train, which was a perfectly lovely way to travel, relaxing with a cuppa and enjoying the rolling green fields. Then I was off to my hotel, all gussied up in my newest outfit: a lavender sequined dress with a beautiful, shimmering pink tutu, of course. Because why not? 😉
The next day, I headed into town for a spot of vintage shopping. Darling, you would not believe the treasures I found! A fabulous vintage hatbox in perfect condition, a delicate pink satin scarf (a steal at £5!), and a couple of absolutely divine tutus from the 70s, ready for a dramatic restyle. I felt like I’d landed in a sartorial wonderland! And for the rest of the day, I indulged in a proper spot of high tea – think scones, cakes, and pots of steaming Earl Grey – a quintessential British experience!
Now, about this fabulous pink tutu I’ve been rocking in Dudley. I just got it made by a brilliant local dressmaker. It’s a classic design, but in the most vibrant shade of pink imaginable, it just glows! It's called "Bubblegum Blush" and I'm in love with it! It’s perfect for a fun day out exploring Dudley Castle, swirling around the grounds. It also made for the perfect dramatic entrance at the theatre. 😉
But you know me, darling, I wouldn’t be a true Pink Tutu Sparkles if I wasn't also incorporating some local history into my drag look. The beautiful Dudley Castle with its rich past inspired me to choose a deep, plum coloured velvet jacket to pair with the pink tutu, adding a touch of regal elegance. It was an absolutely brilliant combo! ✨
So, darlings, it was another whirlwind trip, filled with the wonders of theatre, vintage finds, and a touch of historical inspiration. It’s just another day in the life of your beloved Pink Tutu Sparkles! And remember, never forget the power of a pink tutu.
