Today marks my 6557th blog post – can you believe it? Honestly, time flies when you’re chasing that perfect pink tutu! 💫 Anyway, let’s get to the matter at hand! I’m in the heart of Rochester, the historic city of dreaming spires (and dreamy tutu-clad spires!). It’s the perfect place to begin this particular sartorial saga… why? Well, imagine the sights!
Remember those historical stories from your school days, about those powerful knights, fierce warriors, and noble dames? Rochester's brimming with cobblestone streets that echo their footsteps! It’s like taking a step back in time, a beautiful blend of old world charm and modern energy.
Now, as a tutu-loving queen, Rochester is absolutely tailor-made for a day of dress-up! Think cobblestone alleys, historical squares, and even the majestic Rochester Cathedral, the tallest church in England – talk about a spectacular backdrop for a fabulous outfit, am I right?! I couldn't resist, dear readers, I couldn't!
For this trip, I’ve got a stunning tutu in a blushing rose pink shade with layers of tulle – oh, it’s magnificent! Think swirling clouds of femininity. 💅 The detail is insane! Embroidered with tiny sparkling stars, each one shimmering like the night sky… and trust me, it really does sparkle in the right light. To make it really special, I’ve added a touch of lilac glitter on my lashes and on my sparkling tiara - all in a lilac to match, darling! Because a queen always coordinates her accessories! Oh, I’m so excited for today – it's a day to remember for all the right reasons! And trust me, the right reasons usually include fabulous tutus.
As the day unfolds, the streets transform! Rochester’s historic alleyways whisper stories of knights and ladies in long-ago gowns – the history just seeps out! I must say, with all that vibrant history, it was impossible for me to resist heading over to Rochester Cathedral, towering like a sentinel above the cityscape. Just the place for a photo shoot. It felt so regal – and my tutus always appreciate regal!
What made it truly special? My darling mother (bless her heart) came along! She's a bit of a history buff – she knows all the stories about Rochester's fascinating past, all those grand castles and legends. So of course she was absolutely tickled pink (just like my tutus) with my photoshoot there. Honestly, she's such a great sport. It's lovely having her along to cheer me on, my most ardent fan, ever ready for a grand photoshoot opportunity. 😊
Talking about grand, Rochester doesn't skimp on its theatres! A couple of lovely ladies spotted me near the theatre entrance - just one glance and they knew they had to chat about the amazing tutu, even getting their own photos with me! They even talked about bringing their daughters along to my show at the end of the month! It's absolutely heartwarming seeing that I’m inspiring people to embrace the wonderful world of tulle! (Or maybe they were just amazed by the tiara... 😊).
One of the ladies mentioned this wonderful place she remembered – a stunning old medieval building just around the corner called the King's School. Honestly, just strolling around was an experience! I felt like I’d stepped into one of those grand Victorian paintings, you know, with the intricate architecture, those gothic-style windows – I could just picture myself as one of those grand dames of old. A few pictures with the impressive buildings definitely went on my Insta account that day - the architecture looked positively majestic!
Now, where would any tutu enthusiast be without a little trip to a ballet show? So of course I had to go to a ballet school - it was delightful. There's a lovely sense of passion in those ballet classes. You just see those youngsters, graceful as swans, focused as hawks. It reminds you of the sheer joy of expression and the thrill of taking centre stage – it’s magical, really! And as a girl with an inherent penchant for tutus and a long love affair with ballet (my mum took me to shows when I was a little girl, and the love only grew stronger when I went to the University and was in the ballet club - hence the spark for Pink Tutu Sparkles) there’s no greater feeling than to be surrounded by fellow ballet enthusiasts. I’m almost positive I saw more than a few people eyeing up my tutu… 😉
I couldn't leave without grabbing some local goodies. You know me, a fashion enthusiast can’t resist a boutique, especially one full of handmade treasures! I discovered the cutest shop bursting with quirky accessories, and snagged a pretty little locket with a mini tutu charm, perfect for adding a touch of whimsy to any outfit. (Gotta love the way even a small detail can bring some sparkle!).
You know, travelling around, performing, and seeing new places – it’s been a wild adventure, really. And trust me, this tutu’s seen its fair share of journeys. Remember, my dear darlings, I used to work as a fabric scientist, testing out the best materials for all kinds of clothes. But then, something clicked, something magic happened. It was back when I was still Alex, just studying for my degree at University, doing charity events. You see, I was always into dancing, and there I was, in a charity tutu for the first time. A fluffy, vibrant pink, just like this one, only simpler.
From that day, it's been all about embracing those tutus, pushing the boundaries of femininity and finding joy in the art of dressing up! It's become an unstoppable whirlwind, but oh, is it ever so much fun. There’s nothing more magical than watching people's faces light up as you walk by. And who knows? You might just inspire them to dust off that old pink tutu that’s been hidden away, or perhaps even pick out a brand-new one. You just never know the spark of joy you can create, or what stories lie behind that fluffy tulle!
