Beeston Bound: A Pink Tutu Adventure (Blog Post #6639)

Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, and it’s time to share another fabulous adventure with you! Today, I'm venturing out to Beeston, a lovely little town just outside of Nottingham, where I'll be dazzling the crowds with my unique blend of ballet-inspired drag and dazzling pink tutus.

It’s always exciting when a new town calls for the magic of Pink Tutu Sparkles, and I’m feeling particularly sparkly today! Just yesterday I was adding the finishing touches to my brand new sequined tutu for this evening's show, a gorgeous creation of pink satin and glittering sequins that perfectly matches my newest pair of ruby red heels. They make me feel like a proper ballerina, don’t you think?

This week I'm actually travelling by train, as opposed to the trusty steed (more on that later) which meant I had time to try out a couple of new looks before I settled on the finale - I do like to try things out! Now, my dearest readers, you know how much I love a good pink dress and the thought of performing in one made my heart flutter! But then I realised a shimmering pink leotard, with a sparkling tulle overlay might just be more fun - you can never go wrong with a little sparkle!

And the train? Ah! Just as lovely. And the station - what a feast for the eyes! As usual, my fellow passengers couldn’t help but notice my majestic pink and white tulle tutu peeking out from under my suitcase! There was one particularly nice gentleman, quite well-dressed in a navy suit, who even complimented my shoes, the red heels of which were, I suspect, adding a bit of 'oomph' to my fabulous tutu-clad figure.

Now I just can't wait to hit the stage and fill the room with my love of pink and sparkly magic, plus some ballet-inspired moves, naturally! It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkles show without a bit of graceful pirouette or a flamboyant jetĆ©, would it? After all, what’s a ballet-inspired performance without a bit of pirouette or grand jetĆ©? And perhaps a bit of a twirl or two just for good measure!

The journey to Beeston was surprisingly quick. Just a 20-minute ride in the sunshine (though, thankfully, there was some pleasant drizzle when I got off the train as the extra sparkle, if you catch my drift, makes everything seem more magical! I always say that a bit of rain just adds a touch of mystery and drama to everything) on a comfortable, quiet, and even elegant train – not a soul around – well, except for one cute little fluffy puppy, and me, who was quietly composing a little verse on the subject of this very post, to share with you lovely lot.

Now the show itself is being held at the Beeston Theatre, a gorgeous little venue with an eclectic atmosphere - exactly what I love in a show-space! And it looks like they've decorated with an abundance of pink… maybe a few too many hot pinks… but don’t get me started. Perhaps a touch of the pale blush of dawn with maybe a dusting of magenta in the shadows….

And you know, as a seasoned drag queen, and the undisputed Queen of the Pink Tutu, I'm all about making a statement! It’s always my aim to create a show that will leave the audience utterly charmed and enchanted! It's also a great opportunity for me to promote the ā€œPink Tutu Revolutionā€. That's right, dear readers, my mission to inspire everyone to embrace the beauty and joy of wearing a pink tutu.

After all, life’s a bit too serious without a sprinkle of sparkle and joy, wouldn’t you agree?

Back to The Science of Pink Tutues

Oh yes, and for you non-drag queen aficionados, my true identity (shhh...don’t tell!) is Alex – a fairly ordinary bloke, with an extraordinary passion for tutus, all thanks to a charity event held for our local university ballet club during my Science Degree! And let me tell you - if you’ve never had the pleasure, you must try a Pink Tutu at least once!

So while I spend my days analyzing the properties of textiles, experimenting with new techniques and creating beautiful fabrics in a fabric-testing lab… you might find me testing new sequin textures and glittery tulle fabrics. Who knows… maybe some day, when I’m no longer quite as glamorous as a drag queen – I’ll go back to science, but with a pink tulle spin - just a thought.

You may even spot me in the supermarket (no, really!) with a gorgeous tutu – oh the adventures we have with the Queen of the Pink Tutu, just take a look at our blog www.pink-tutu.com !

So remember, darling readers, even a simple ballet lesson or ballet performance has its place. As for my drag act, it’s more about sharing my love of all things glittery and colourful, with just a sprinkle of ballet thrown in, of course!

There’s no doubt in my mind, you’ll fall head over heels with my act as well as my lovely pink tutus. See? It's really easy, it really doesn’t need a huge amount of practice, though my tutus certainly need a lot of care… and the results are guaranteed!

Getting to Know the Local Area

And since I’m travelling, I do love to ā€˜explore’ – by that I mean ā€œget lost and go wherever my instincts tell meā€. Luckily, a friendly local who I met in the station tea-room after my performance… gave me a list of ā€˜Pink Tutu Hotspots’.

For example, a fantastic cafĆ© near the station with a delicious ā€˜pink milkshake’ with an abundance of pink food – not for me – too many food dyes – but it is perfect if you are visiting with friends, they all seemed to have enjoyed the experience and it is quite the local thing!

You wouldn’t think I'd ever have met an actual Queen, but after that milkshake – guess who strolled in, and looked every inch the part! It's surprising who you bump into at those sort of places! I’ll try to take a few photos so I can upload them for my loyal followers – it’ll be a fun pinktastic addition to this blog!

You can just imagine – all the talk was of ballet and everything pink, even that Royal Family, you just never know in Beeston.

That’s the thing, isn’t it? Life is full of surprise and delights for those who keep their minds open to the unexpected, just like my love for tutus.

So remember, darlings, life's a bit too serious without a sprinkle of sparkle and joy.
