Bridlington Calling: Pink Tutu Sparkles on the Coast!

Hello my darlings, and welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! It's your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, coming to you live (well, almost live – it's actually a pre-recorded message) from the glorious seaside town of Bridlington. This is post number 6648, and today I'm feeling particularly fabulous, because today, my loves, I'm going to share with you a story of glitz, glamour, and oh, so much pink!

You see, this week's adventure took me on a journey to the North Yorkshire coast, a journey that started with a beautiful, old-fashioned train ride (the carriages had little compartments - sigh) and ended in the seaside haven that is Bridlington. I just adore trains. That rhythmic clacking on the tracks… It's music to my ears! Not quite the same as a live orchestral score at the Royal Ballet, of course, but charming all the same.

Now, before I tell you all about the breathtaking show I had the privilege of performing at here, let me take you back to my origins. Remember when I told you that my drag name, Pink Tutu Sparkles, was a kind of “love at first sight” moment? It happened back when I was a science student, of all things! Now, you might be picturing a serious lab coat-wearing scientist, right? Well, this scientist was a secret ballet enthusiast, joining the university ballet club and practically leaping for joy at the opportunity to don a pink tutu for charity. (Those were the days before I had a wardrobe bursting with tutus in every shade of pink, imaginable, but it's a story for another day.)

And thus, Pink Tutu Sparkles was born! The pink tutu ignited a fire within me. Suddenly, everything felt possible! And I realised… The world wasn't ready for just one Pink Tutu Sparkles! Everyone needed their own touch of pink tulle in their lives, their own unique way of expressing themselves through fabulousness!

Of course, as a scientist (my day job!) I'm still fascinated by fabrics. By day, I'm analysing the textures and properties of clothes for quality control. But when night falls, it’s all about sparkle, ruffles, and feathers – because that's the true joy of performing!

So, let’s get back to Bridlington! After that idyllic train journey, I was ready to dive into the world of drag shows. And guess what? The moment I stepped onto the stage, it was like a kaleidoscope of energy and delight! The Bridlington audience was incredible – so warm, welcoming, and full of joie de vivre! They knew how to appreciate a pink tutu queen! I was performing on a tiny, open-air stage, under a canopy of fairy lights – pure magic. And let me tell you, they went wild when they heard the opening notes of "Let's Go Fly A Kite"! It was the perfect song, because really, isn't every show like a chance to fly high and reach for the stars?

One of the best things about touring as Pink Tutu Sparkles is getting to see all sorts of different places. I just love those unique local touches that make each venue so special. In Bridlington, the people were so welcoming, and the town itself was filled with seaside charm, quaint shops, and, of course, the sea.

Now, you know my dear readers, I don't take these trips for the sake of luxury. While I always aim for a bit of glam (let's face it, being Pink Tutu Sparkles is about embracing fabulousness), I'm actually quite the budget traveller at heart! To fund all this pink-tutu-tastic travelling, I do quite a few shows and performances. Anything, anywhere, any time! And let me tell you, I'm pretty good at it! I'm a versatile performer. From pubs and clubs to fairs and community events, I bring a touch of magic wherever I go!

So, how about some details from my show? Let's talk costume. It was all pink! Honestly, there’s no colour that suits me better, and I simply had to wear pink. Now, as for the specifics, my head was crowned with a gloriously sparkly tiara – you just can’t have a drag queen without a headpiece! And speaking of sparkles, the outfit itself was a magnificent spectacle: a three-layer, custom-made pink tulle tutu with glittery details – it was like a cloud of pink sprinkled with stardust! And of course, it wouldn’t be complete without a dazzling pink sequined jacket that, with its ruffled, flouncy edges, was simply impossible to miss. And let's not forget the matching pink knee-high boots - I always love to pull out the big guns and go full pink!

You know, some of the most fabulous memories are born from those random, spontaneous encounters. In Bridlington, it was the kind local hairdresser, offering me a braid-up before the show, and then giving me a genuine piece of advice on styling my hair for the sea breeze (I told you the locals are awesome!). I don't know why, but my journey to Bridlington had been a long one (I even tried out horse riding – talk about a way to travel!) I must say that there's nothing quite like the wind whipping through your hair, feeling that sense of freedom! I almost did a full on "Black Beauty" on the Bridlington beach, but alas, there wasn't a horse in sight, or at least, no well-trained carriage horse available! Perhaps on my next trip, dear readers!

There's so much to see and do in Bridlington! It truly felt like a slice of vintage seaside magic. And you know, one of the biggest joys is meeting those wonderful local people. Each town, each place has its own unique personality. Bridlington was a true treat - just brimming with fun, friendly people!

Right, so where to next? I’ve got a list as long as my eyelashes – my adventures have only just begun, dear readers! But remember, darling, if you're ever looking for a little Pink Tutu magic in your life, all you need to do is find that tiny spark within you! It's all about confidence, self-expression, and most importantly – having the courage to embrace your fabulousness, just as I do! Go on, let your pink tutu flag fly! The world is your oyster… Or perhaps your glittery, pink, sequin-covered shell.

Love you all!

Until next time,

Pink Tutu Sparkles x
