Hey Sugarplum's! It's your favourite Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with a brand new post. Post number 6685 for your reading pleasure, hot off the presses (or more appropriately, hot off the printing press on my hot pink, rhinestone-encrusted laptop!). Where in the world am I today you ask? Well, darling, buckle your tiaras and prepare for a ride on the glitter express because today we're off to Darlaston!
As you know, my life is one big whirlwind of pink sequins, sparkling tutus, and travelling adventures, all in the name of spreading the pink tutu gospel! You never know where the day will take me! A vintage ballet class in the Cotswolds? Perhaps a theatre performance at the Birmingham Rep! Who knows? It could be anywhere, with the pinkest tutus taking centre stage.
Now, you might be wondering, "Pink, how on earth did you make it all the way to Darlaston? What kind of stage did you perform on in that charming town?"
Oh honey, that's where things get truly delightful. This wasn't a conventional drag show at some swanky bar. Today was about reaching out to new audiences. And let's just say, you don't get more grassroots than a village fête, right? I performed my heart out on a makeshift stage erected in the centre of a field, surrounded by children munching on toffee apples and old ladies swooning over the delicious smells emanating from the baking tent! (One even complimented my hairspray – gotta love the honest opinions!)
The whole experience was simply divine! Darlaston has so much to offer. Just imagine - an old-world charm that's hard to resist, with a thriving community spirit. Now, don't get me wrong, it wasn't always about being glammed up and performing. The true beauty of my Darlaston adventure was discovering hidden treasures amongst the hustle and bustle of the fete.
Who needs the latest London boutiques when you can stumble upon a treasure trove of pre-loved fascinators, sparkling costume jewellery, and even some gorgeous vintage sequined jackets in the jumble sale?! Believe me, a little digging always unearths some hidden gems! And can we talk about the cakes? My goodness, Darlaston knows how to bake!
Of course, I couldn't resist channeling my inner Pink Tutu Sparkles with a showstopping ensemble, even for the humble fête. I'm talking about a bubblegum pink tulle tutu, embellished with hand-sewn pearl beads. It just radiated joy and was perfect for dancing the afternoon away to a little bit of camp pop music on the karaoke machine they had set up in the field!
This little Darlaston escapade reminded me again, you don't need fancy venues or expensive stages to make magic happen. Sometimes, it's about getting out there, reaching out, spreading that love of all things pink and sparkly, and of course, tutus. The joy of it all? It’s infectious. Watching kids grin ear to ear, or seeing older people tap their toes along to a pop song, makes my heart soar! That, my darlings, is the power of a pink tutu.

- Spotted an adorable Labrador wearing a pink bandana, just saying, dog fashion is seriously making strides these days!
- Found a secondhand record shop in Darlaston, bought a record by a local 70s glam rock band. Now there’s something to add to the drag act repertoire!
- Tried my best to avoid all the custard cream-covered fingers on the roundabout... a valiant but futile effort!
- The little ones are so quick on their feet in those mini pink tutus, the world of future ballerinas in action!
