Nottingham! The Queen of Tutus takes to the Stage! 🩰👑

Hello darlings! It’s your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here with a blog post fresh from Nottingham! This is post number 6713, so you know I’m here to bring you the glitz, glamour and lots of pink tutus!

I've been a little tipsy-turvy this week - a whirl of performances, a gallop on my trusty steed, and a dash to catch the train to Nottingham. Now, I know some of you might say, "Why Nottingham, Pink Tutu Sparkles? It's a bit, shall we say, plain for you," but I've got news for you darlings: Nottingham is full of surprises! It's got the perfect blend of history, culture and… wait for it… ballet.

And what is a queen like myself without her beloved ballet? My love for this dance form began when I was studying for my science degree at the university (yes, believe it or not, Pink Tutu Sparkles is a scientist by day, testing fabrics!). I got sucked into the university ballet club, tried on a tutu for a charity event, and the rest, as they say, is history. From then on, I was a tutu queen in the making!

I arrived in Nottingham after a delightful journey by train. I've got to say, there's nothing quite like the rumble of the engine and the clacking of the tracks - so much more romantic than any motorway journey, if you ask me! Plus, you get a grand view of the English countryside – and with a good dose of make-up, a fabulous outfit, and a smile that could melt even the most stubborn ice queen, well, the journey's just part of the show, darling!

Let's talk Nottingham

Now, Nottingham. This charming city, with its cobbled streets and medieval castle, had a serious sparkle about it. You could feel the energy, and the people! Such lovely, welcoming people, ready for a show and ready to have a good time. I loved their open-mindedness. Why else would a tutu queen be the toast of the town?!

First stop, a visit to the Nottingham Playhouse. Oh, darling! It was heaven. The stunning Victorian architecture! The energy! The feeling of history – a real buzz in the air. I had to spend a good ten minutes simply admiring it!

After my visit, it was time for some retail therapy. You know I love a good vintage shop, so I found the cutest boutique near the castle - "Vintage on the Square" it was called, and oh, the colours! There were sequins and beads galore. A pink tutu lover's paradise. Naturally, I indulged! It was my first Nottingham treasure for sure.

And now, let's get into the real reason I came to Nottingham, darling: my show! You bet I took to the stage at the fabulous The Old Angel! I donned my most glorious pink tutu - a confection of tulle and sparkles with enough feathers to rival a peahen. The crowd went wild! Singing along to my favourite pop hits and roaring with laughter as I told them stories of my travels (the best part, naturally, being the tutus). And it was so satisfying to see a few ladies in the crowd rocking tutus of their own! They may not be the colour I'd prefer but hey, every bit of pink is a win!

Food for a tutu Queen's heart

Nottingham is a city of surprises. Take the food, for instance. I had the most scrumptious lunch at "The Crafty Pint". This quaint, friendly pub offered the tastiest, most traditional pub grub – the best bangers and mash I’ve ever had, no joke! But what really blew my mind was the dessert - the most decadent chocolate mousse, and I can’t even lie, it was like an obsession. Of course, it arrived with a dash of edible glitter because it's all about the sparkle, darling. And yes, I managed to find some lovely pink cupcakes - just for my pink-loving fans, of course!

Travel with style

And the evening, you ask? Well, that involved a ride, my darling. But not any old ride, mind you - a horse-drawn carriage. My heart skipped a beat, my tutu twirled with the motion of the carriage, and I was swept up in this storybook romance. I can’t even explain the excitement that ran through me as the carriage pulled up, revealing this beautiful horse, its dark mane gleaming under the gaslight. It felt as if we were starring in our own film. It’s not everyday a pink tutu queen travels by horse-drawn carriage, darling. It was such a special touch to my trip, and oh, the perfect way to end a magical night.

So that's it, darlings, Nottingham, a trip filled with fabulous performances, delicious food, amazing outfits and a journey through a town steeped in history - with a healthy dash of magic thrown in for good measure.

Next week, it's Edinburgh. Edinburgh! A whirlwind of culture, I can almost hear it calling. I can feel my tutu itching to twirl amongst the Scottish hills. Now that’s something worth celebrating with pink!

See you there, darlings! And remember: always wear a tutu with pride!
