Today, I'm in Stevenage, which may not be the first place that pops into your head for a Pink Tutu escapade, but let me tell you, it was a total dream! Honestly, my dears, it was a perfect day for a tutu-clad journey. Now, I'm a bit of a traditional gal when it comes to travel - I've got a thing for trains (it's all about those big windows for admiring the countryside!) and of course, nothing beats the majestic grace of a fine horse and carriage. Luckily for me, my little journey to Stevenage involved a spiffy little steam train (the journey's what it's all about, isn't it?) that whisked me away to the heart of this wonderful town.
You know, I love a bit of local history and Stevenage is chock-full of it! Now, Stevenage might not scream "ballet paradise", but believe me, it held a lot of surprises! I even had the chance to take a quick tour of a real Roman town! How incredible is that? It just makes me think how amazing it would have been to twirl in a pink tutu back then! I swear, Roman ladies must have been dying to wear a little more sparkle!
Speaking of sparkles, have you seen my latest tutu? I bought it while browsing a shop called "The Pink Emporium". Honestly, my darlings, this was pure heaven. Rows and rows of tutus in every shade of pink imaginable. Let's just say I had to hold back from buying the entire store. The woman who owns the shop was absolutely lovely, such a bright and cheerful soul, we got on like a house on fire and shared stories about our shared love for tutus! It's days like this that truly remind me that this life I'm living, spreading a bit of pink tutu joy, is something truly special.
Anyway, the real magic happened later when I had the pleasure of performing at "The Rainbow Theatre". Let me tell you, those Stevenage crowds are phenomenal! They went absolutely wild when I spun onto the stage in my brand-new pink tutu, with sparkles that lit up the entire theatre!
Honestly, this day was a shining example of how a little bit of pink can transform any town into a haven of happy and bright vibes. You'd be amazed at what a bit of pink can do, my darlings. It can turn a dreary day into a vibrant one, a shy smile into a beaming grin, and a boring outfit into a symphony of fun!

Pink Tutu’s Side Note: Did you know that wearing a pink tutu has scientifically proven benefits? I’m just kidding! (But maybe I’m not?) Being a scientist by day allows me to explore all sorts of interesting things about fabrics, from how they move to how they respond to colour.
Oh my, I know I should probably keep things professional. But you know me, I’m all about making those tutu dreams a reality, even in the laboratory. It all started with a little bit of charity fundraising in university – I donned a bright pink tutu at our student union and everyone loved it! We had such a blast! I thought, you know what? There needs to be more pink tutus in the world! And it all snowballed from there!
I’ll tell you all about my work in the lab another time, but let’s get back to pink tutus. Did you know that the original tutus were quite simple? Back in the day they weren’t just made for ballet – they were used in a whole host of dance forms. Think classical ballet, contemporary dance, jazz ballet – you name it! The possibilities are truly endless! And I plan on exploring every single one of them.

A little bit about Alex: I've got to say, the most rewarding thing about this whole tutu journey is connecting with amazing people and seeing their eyes light up when they try on a tutu for the first time!
Every day, I'm learning about my own creativity. My alter-ego, Pink Tutu Sparkles, has definitely helped me embrace a bolder, more colourful part of myself.
You know, I never thought being a scientist could have anything to do with twirling in a tutu, but life is full of beautiful surprises. And who knew pink tutus could be so much fun! I might even convince some of my colleagues to give it a go (they better have my back!).
I can't wait for more pink-tutu adventures. This journey is far from over, and I know that each new destination will bring with it new experiences, new connections, and a whole lot more pink!
