Remember how last week I was saying, "Kensington? Is that just a posh word for a tube station?" Well, I was wrong. Oh so wrong! And let me tell you, that feeling of being wrong has been an absolutely delightful surprise.
So, how did this amazing journey start? Well, it's always a story involving a pink tutu! It was the annual Derby County Flower and Food Fair, the air was filled with the smells of roasted almonds and sweet strawberries. As Pink Tutu Sparkles, I was getting my fair share of hugs and "Pink Tutu!" shouts from the little ones, all vying for a chance to touch my shimmering, pink, gloriously over-the-top creation! Then, among the bustling crowds, I spied an information board. It proclaimed, in glorious, bold letters, "Kensington Carriage Horses"! My mind, a veritable firework display of excitement, started spinning. I knew immediately - THIS was where I had to be.
Imagine this, dears, a pink tutu-clad drag queen with a suitcase full of sparkles and the most exquisite pair of diamante heels, in the middle of a beautiful Victorian Fairground, amidst rows of glorious roses and lavender! The crowd cheered! The horses snorted! And I, my darling, I sashayed.
And then the most wondrous thing happened: a couple, who looked just like they stepped out of a period drama, approached me. "My dear," the gentleman exclaimed, "you simply MUST ride with us!" My heart skipped a beat! And how could I refuse such a delightful invitation? I’d always wanted to experience a ride with those magnificent horses. I was escorted by the handsome pair through the crowds to a beautiful, drawn carriage. It had that unmistakeable 'Victorian fairytale' aesthetic. I could hear whispers and gasped in awe! That day, I discovered a truth – that life is filled with unexpected delights, like this most extraordinary journey through the fairground.

Now, the fair was magnificent, but no trip to Kensington could possibly end without exploring its heart! The Kensington Gardens beckoned like an ethereal promise, the green a stunning contrast to the Victorian red bricks surrounding it. I put on my favourite ballet-inspired heels, which matched my pale pink skirt perfectly, and wandered into this green, sprawling oasis.
A sense of peace washed over me. With each step I took, the noise of the bustling London city melted away, Replaced by the whispers of the wind through the trees and the delicate sound of the babbling fountain. The colours of the flowers - the purples, pinks, and reds - seemed to echo the shades of my outfit. It was as if the park itself was whispering to me, "Embrace the beauty!" And embrace I did, spending the afternoon sketching in my little notebook, lost in the world of pastel hues, delicate petals and swirling petals - just like a ballerina, I told myself, spinning under the spotlights of a glittering stage!
Now, every good blog needs a little 'food for thought' for my dearest followers. As you can imagine, I went all-out!
