Taunton Twirls: Tutu Queen in a Pink Paradise!

Hello my fabulous darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, bringing you another dose of glitz, glamour, and tutus galore! This is post number 6822, and today we're heading to Taunton, a town with such charming charm, I just knew it would be tutu-ific! (Oh, and head on over to www.pink-tutu.com for all your fabulous fashion fix.)

I have to say, the journey to Taunton was pretty magical. I've been a bit obsessed with trains lately, they just whisper tales of adventures and allow you to fully immerse yourself in the passing landscape. The sun was beaming down, making the countryside a shimmering green canvas. It was just like a ballet performance, but instead of twirling dancers, it was me and the world whizzing by.

As soon as I arrived, I could feel a certain "something" in the air. The cobbled streets were lined with cute shops overflowing with handmade crafts and antique treasures, which are simply made for pink tutu adventures. I’m telling you, these streets were begging to be graced by a dazzling pink tutu. The architecture, too, had a distinct sense of history - with churches that pointed up to the heavens and Georgian houses whispering stories of bygone times. I can totally picture a scene from Swan Lake taking place here, with graceful swans gliding across the River Tone, all while I’m there in a sparkly pink tutu cheering them on.

I had a bit of a tutu-crisis when I realised I couldn’t bring all my fabulous garments with me, there wouldn’t have been space in the carriage let alone a hotel room. So I was forced to travel light this time, but that’s just one more opportunity to be bold and playful, to see what this amazing town has to offer me!

Oh, speaking of playtime… my day started with a little trip to a local ballet studio! It’s no surprise that a tutu queen loves to dance, I mean, who doesn’t love to pirouette with a pink feather boa swirling around them? The studio was a real find, with floor-to-ceiling mirrors, wooden barres that felt centuries old, and an air of pure dedication to the art. They had a free class going on so I thought I’d just sashay my way into it, no need to worry about judgement.

They looked at me in astonishment when I strode in, my fluffy pink tutu a bit more eye-catching than a classic black one. I did a little shimmy for them, I was already feeling the dance spirit move through my soul. The students had me teaching them the steps of my signature move ‘Pink Sparkles Twirl’, I mean what better way to celebrate a day in Taunton than with a flash of pink fluff? We had such a laugh, I can't even tell you. They even said they’d love for me to come back for a full dance workshop next time, just another reason to visit again soon!

One thing I’ve learnt through my travels: you just gotta embrace every single opportunity. When the opportunity came for a delightful cream tea in a lovely vintage tea room I simply couldn’t say no. Afternoon tea is always delightful and I felt just like Alice falling down the rabbit hole in a pastel pink fairytale world with dainty sandwiches and beautiful teacups, not forgetting of course the warm scones slathered in clotted cream and raspberry jam. It felt positively posh, like a scene from one of those period dramas I adore, a perfectly English spectacle and my outfit couldn't have been more fitting!

I simply couldn’t leave without exploring the Taunton Museum. What a gem! It had a bit of everything, and of course, they had a section about the local theatre. As I delved into their archive I discovered some old, original scripts for local theatre plays from over 100 years ago, it’s simply astounding how this part of history lives on within us. One play, ‘The Pink Princess’, even referenced a flamboyant character who used a lot of glitter! They didn’t actually say they wore a pink tutu but they did say they ‘dusted themselves with sparkle' which sounds very familiar to my act! And this inspired a fabulous idea for my performance this evening...

But let's be honest, the real star of Taunton isn't its historical buildings or museums or tea shops – it's the people! The locals are so friendly and welcoming, like the kindest bunch of grandmothers ever, only with a little extra sparkle in their eyes. Everywhere I went, I got smiles and compliments on my pink tutu, it’s certainly a crowd-pleaser and my main way of spreading tutu joy. One sweet lady even told me that it was like seeing a fairy float through the town, and who knows, perhaps she’s right. That is the magical thing about pink tutus, it transforms your spirit and connects you to everyone around you!

Later, as the sun began to dip, casting long shadows, it was time for the biggest performance yet! I chose to stage it by the historic church, with its stone spire reaching towards the heavens. The lighting, even without spotlights, was almost otherworldly. It seemed to suit the ‘Pink Princess’ persona I crafted, a dramatic yet ethereal twist on the original script I found. I chose to play the part of an aspiring ballerina, dreaming of the perfect stage for a performance – her very own, personal performance - just like me, just like my entire act! There were quite a few children playing about, and so my final ‘Sparkling’ pose brought out even more squeals and giggles as I threw some of my glitter into the crowd - of course it's not the normal ‘glitter bomb’ way, my shimmer sprinkles are completely eco-friendly and biodegradable so no mess at all!

Evenings in Taunton feel so alive with an atmosphere full of friendly people having fun and embracing the night. I finished up by having a bite to eat, choosing from a wide variety of restaurants, I mean come on there was even a veggie burger place! And who needs to spend time cooking when there’s amazing food to discover and the excitement of the evening ahead. After all, being a Tutu Queen isn’t just about sparkle, it's about living each moment with a dash of colour and a generous sprinkle of magic!

It was all a little too good to be true, but hey, that’s life! Every place I travel has its magic. Now, I have to get back to planning. My next stop: who knows where my next pink tutu adventure will take me? I only have a few hours to figure out where I will be tomorrow morning, before I’m back on that train with my tutu bag by my side, looking out at the world with all its excitement waiting for me. So stay tuned, my lovelies, and make sure you keep checking back at www.pink-tutu.com - you won't want to miss a single twirl! Until then, keep sparkling, stay pink, and let's make the world a more fabulous place, one tutu at a time!

*XOXO, *
