As you know, I’m a girl who believes in living life to the fullest, and that means embracing every opportunity to dance and shine in my beloved pink tutu! So, imagine my delight when I booked a gig at the delightful Ecclesfield Town Hall. It’s a venue that really evokes that classic, old-world charm - perfect for a queen like me, darling!
I swear, you can’t beat the feeling of a train journey when it comes to travel. The rhythmic sway, the rustling of pages as fellow travellers delve into their books, the friendly chitchat over a cup of tea - all just adds to the magic of the journey, and gives me the perfect chance to put the finishing touches on my look. You see, travelling by train allows me to showcase not only my signature pink tutu, but my fabulous sense of style! Imagine, a sequined handbag strategically placed next to a carefully chosen scarf, each piece complimenting my signature pink ensemble. It’s about layering, darling!
I can’t say enough about Ecclesfield's welcoming spirit. Even before my performance, the locals showered me with compliments on my ensemble. "That's one glorious tutu," was a comment that made me giggle with delight. The joy and cheerfulness radiating from everyone, and their genuine warmth, made it easy to slip into my alter-ego. I’m pretty sure my heart did a little happy-tap, right there on the street.
I confess, before I began my pink-tutu journey, I wasn't all that familiar with the region. But the people have been truly fabulous, proving to be every bit as dazzling as my tutu! Perhaps that's what sparked this whole drag obsession for me. Back in Derbyshire, you know, before I started spinning in pink, I used to be a lab rat. But don't think that life of white coats and chemical fumes is all there is to me, darling. While I am a certified science geek, a master of the pipette, and can whip up a chemical equation quicker than you can say "sodium chloride," the stage beckons for me, and I'm more than happy to answer the call! I remember it all began while I was a member of the university's ballet club. You see, we held a charity event, and I put on a tutu just to see what it was all about. You’d never believe this, but within minutes, I had embraced this vibrant shade of pink and its soft, swishy textures. From then on, my life was all about twirling, sequins and dancing, darling.
Oh, did I tell you I discovered an adorable little vintage store near the Ecclesfield town square? I had a stroke of luck! While shopping for some new costume accessories for tonight's performance, I stumbled upon a vintage silk blouse, absolutely perfect for the ensemble!
Speaking of tonight's performance, the energy at the town hall is electrifying. I'm about to take to the stage with a new set I've been practicing in secret! You can't go wrong with classics like "Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend" and "Vogue," but there's a little surprise I'm going to drop tonight, a song that celebrates all things pink and sparkly! ( wink, wink ) I've also added some fun, little nods to Ecclesfield into the routine, so it's not to be missed! I hope the locals get a kick out of the tutu twist I’m giving those old local stories!
It’s the kind of show where the laughter and cheers just carry on after the last note. Then I meet everyone backstage, the smiles on their faces are worth every mile on the train, worth all those late nights perfecting my act! It reminds me of the impact I have. My biggest goal in life, darlings, is to make everyone embrace the power of the pink tutu! We may be a little bit crazy, but life’s meant to be lived with passion and joy.
