Helloooo darlings! Your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles is back with a brand-new blog post, fresh from the shores of South Shields! Did you know this beautiful seaside town is right on the edge of the North Sea, and the place where the famous "Toon Army" of Newcastle United was formed? Well, I did, and I just had to visit, tutu in tow, of course. This journey was extra special as I travelled by, hold onto your sparkles, horse! It was a magnificent ride, feeling the wind in my pink tulle and the gentle sway of the horse, almost like a graceful ballet movement.
But before I get swept away by the wind and tell you all about my incredible steed, let me share my story with you. As you lovely lot know, I'm a big fan of travelling – especially if it means getting to explore new places and show off my ever-expanding collection of pink tutus!
This trip began in Derbyshire, where the heart of Pink Tutu Sparkles beats. It all started with my love for the beautiful art of ballet, which led me to join my uni ballet club during my science degree days. Can you imagine? A future scientist in a pink tutu? I knew that this was more than just a fancy dress for a fundraiser. It was the start of something sparkly and wonderful, a life dedicated to all things pink, fabulous, and fabulous-ly pink. Now, let me tell you, that very first time I twirled in a pink tutu… oh darling, it was magical. The way it flowed around me, the way it felt… it was destiny. And I knew at that moment that Pink Tutu Sparkles would take on the world.
Fast forward to present day. My nights are spent bringing joy with my dazzling drag act, entertaining all those lucky enough to be in the audience. And during the day? You'll find me at my scientific laboratory, working wonders with fabric, exploring the science behind textures and hues. You might be surprised to know, a tutu isn't all about feathers and fluff!
But today is not about science! It's all about South Shields. This seaside town with its iconic beaches and charming cobblestone streets offered the perfect backdrop for Pink Tutu Sparkles.
My journey started with a leisurely stroll through the historic market, where I picked up some stunningly bright, pink handmade candles to take home to Derbyshire. I think you'll all agree, the smell of a burning pink candle in your boudoir will really bring the whole room together, don't you think? And who needs fancy perfume when you can simply sniff a bit of homemade pink candle and have yourself an instant olfactory vacation.
The next stop was the South Shields Museum & Art Gallery. While the gallery housed some remarkable paintings, what really caught my attention was their fantastic exhibit on the history of South Shields. Now, this town is famous for having some really unique boat names! Like 'A Happy Time', which sounds like a fabulous theme for a party. Imagine a ballroom full of dancing queens in their favourite pink tutus…shivers in delight.
But enough of the past. The next order of the day? The Beach! My fabulous pink tutu flowed in the wind as I skipped along the sandy shores. You really haven't lived until you've strutted your stuff on the beach in a pink tutu while the seagulls cry.
I was just admiring the beautiful ocean views when a group of youngsters came up to me. They were curious about my attire, of course! One of the girls said she'd seen me in a photo on a magazine – which meant Pink Tutu Sparkles had hit the big time, darlings! And in that moment, I knew it was my duty to spread the magic of pink tutus. I showed the kids how to do a twirl and even let them touch the fabric!
My day culminated with a delectable lunch at one of South Shields' lovely restaurants. My fish and chips was simply divine! If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend the restaurant by the pier. The owner had the most charming dog, a little poodle wearing a miniature pink bow… and that is real style!
Later, as I relaxed and watched the sun set over the sea, I felt an overwhelming sense of peace. This was a journey that had filled my heart with so much joy and a deep sense of connection to the magic that lies within every pink tutu. It reminded me of the true essence of Pink Tutu Sparkles: the power of celebrating individuality and the joy of expressing oneself, even in the most flamboyant and fun way.
South Shields, you truly captured my heart. I will forever remember your warmth, beauty, and those iconic boat names. You are a town where everyone is welcomed, everyone is loved, and everyone, even every little child, can become a pink-tutu-wearing, glitter-spangled, heart-full star.
