Hello my lovely darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from the charming town of Stratford Upon Avon!
It’s always a delight to be in this historical town, famous for its connection to the Bard himself, William Shakespeare. You know, the guy who wrote those famous plays, like “Romeo and Juliet” and “Hamlet,” filled with romance, drama, and, of course, those timeless, oh-so-inspiring words! I think a Shakespearean drama about a sassy drag queen in a pink tutu would be pretty darn captivating, don’t you?
But let’s be honest, the true star of the show here in Stratford is none other than the beautiful, historic, and oh-so-charming Royal Shakespeare Theatre! Honestly, just the name gives me chills! I can just imagine those majestic red velvet curtains parting, revealing a scene straight out of a fairytale, with actors in glittering costumes and a sparkling pink tutu perched center stage (yours truly, of course!) winks mischievously
Before I hit the stage myself, I indulged in a little Stratford sightseeing. Now, I’m a girl who loves her fashion, so obviously, the first stop was to peruse the quaint shops and boutiques! And let me tell you, this town has got style. From the chic vintage finds to the stylish independent stores, I was spoilt for choice. Of course, no fashion expedition is complete without a pit stop at the most amazing pink clothing shop I’ve ever seen – all decked out in my favourite shade! Honestly, it was like stepping into a pastel-hued dreamland. I may have just had to buy a few new pieces for my collection... shhhh! Don't tell my bank account!
The day ended with the most magical performance at the theatre itself! A stunning rendition of a classic ballet, performed by the Royal Ballet company. The sheer artistry and elegance on display were captivating. My eyes were glued to the stage, as the ballerinas twirled and danced in their gorgeous tulle skirts, almost echoing the ruffles of my very own tutu! It was truly a captivating experience!
However, you can't just travel to Stratford without indulging in a bit of Stratford charm, right? The atmosphere is positively contagious – like sunshine on a summer day! We sat in a bustling tea shop, indulging in dainty cakes and gossiping about the day’s events with fellow theatergoers. Everyone here is so friendly, so warm, it's almost like everyone here is part of the cast, acting out a charming little comedy in this stunning English town. And the afternoon ended with a walk along the River Avon. This was a perfect ending, filled with fresh air, sparkling water, and enough photo opportunities to make even a seasoned social media queen go mad!
And yes, there was plenty of photo ops – just me in my best pink tutu, showing the Bard's home town just what a Pink Tutu queen can do! The town itself was positively charmed by my fabulous pink tutu, it’s a bit of a running joke around my travels to encourage people to find their inner pink tutu - to spread a little bit of joy and glamour wherever I go. And as we strolled through the cobblestone streets, I just felt like I was living my own, perfect, fairytale!
After a day of exploring, I even found time to try a spot of dancing in the open-air theatre! Turns out I'm quite a good ballroom dancer (when you’re in a tutu, anything is possible!) I mean, when your life's a play, why not embrace the theatre experience with both arms (or shall I say, tutu-clad legs?)!
So, to sum up Stratford in three words? Pink, pretty, perfect!
Speaking of perfect, it's time to pack up my bags and glitter cannons and head back to Derbyshire.
