Surbiton Sparkle: Post Number 7121

Oh darlings! It’s your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here, and I'm bursting with excitement to share my latest adventure with you all!

This week, I've taken my fabulous self to Surbiton, a charming little town tucked away in southwest London. It was a dream come true, you see. I’ve been eyeing this trip up for a while – a place so steeped in ballet history, where the iconic Royal Ballet School once held sway – oh, I just couldn't resist the allure.

My journey began, naturally, with a touch of theatrical flair. I skipped down to the train station in a symphony of pink – my new bouclé pink blazer and of course, my signature pink tulle tutu. A shimmering sequined handbag, and a delicate, shimmering pink feather boa for added dramatic effect – voila – the Queen of Pink was ready to sashay!

My favourite thing about trains? The chance encounters! It's a window into the most diverse array of souls. This time, I had a chat with a lovely lady from Kent who just had to know all about my sparkly pink wardrobe! “Oh darling," she said, her eyes twinkling, "I haven’t seen anything as pink and delightful since my daughter’s wedding.”

Bless her soul, I thought. And we shared a giggle at the fact that pink isn’t just for children, darling. It's a timeless, magical hue that has a place in the world, whatever your age, size or occasion. And if that means wearing pink tulle, all the better!

But, let’s get back to Surbiton. I had the honour of meeting the lovely Amelia – a real ballet queen and local choreographer, who is as bubbly as the finest pink Champagne. She’s just opening her own studio and invited me to watch her ballet classes. I mean, could you imagine? Tutu Queen in a room full of hopeful young ballerinas! It was truly a divine experience! And oh darling, don't even get me started on those tutus, divine is the only word!

After a delicious afternoon tea (and I may have devoured a particularly magnificent pink iced Victoria sponge!) at a charming little tearoom nestled in the heart of Surbiton, it was time for my evening engagement: a fabulous street performance in the town centre!

The street lights twinkled and my pink tutu danced like a sugar plum fairy! I channeled my inner prima ballerina for the audience and threw a couple of little pirouettes in the air – always a crowd pleaser darling! And as for the crowd? You can say I charmed them! A little boy called out "Wow, she looks like a sparkly fairy!” His tiny, ecstatic face and sparkling eyes were my prize of the day.

Later, as I sat in my hotel room (a room that even sported a pink lampshade - I swear to you, the pink universe works in mysterious ways, darlings!), I realised something wonderful. Sure, it’s not always about the sequins, the stage, or the sparkly outfits – though darling, those are absolutely essential! - but sometimes it’s about the journey, the little moments. A giggle with a stranger on a train. A shared passion for ballet with a tiny, but incredibly sparkly, admirer.

Now, Surbiton is a place that holds a special place in my heart. It’s filled with ballet magic, but I have a feeling it's going to become the first town to get a very pink make-over. That’s my ambition, darling! A world where pink isn't just accepted – it’s celebrated.

Until next time, keep sparkling, stay positive and wear a pink tutu!
