Kenton Calling: A Pink Tutu Adventure! 💖🩰

Hello darlings! It’s your favourite pink tutu-wearing diva, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here with you today, ready to whisk you away to a magical world of sparkles, tutus, and Kenton! This is blog post number 7163, and if you haven’t been following me, well, what have you been doing? 😂

I’m so excited about this trip! You see, dear reader, Kenton holds a special place in my heart – it's a town brimming with vibrant energy, filled with colourful characters, just waiting for a pink tutu to strut down their streets! I can almost feel the music in the air, the excitement building. You see, the magic of Pink Tutu Sparkles isn't limited to the stage. I love the way each journey allows me to experience the world anew, spread some sparkly cheer and, of course, encourage everyone to embrace their inner pink tutu princess!

I was particularly excited about getting to Kenton by train. Don’t get me wrong, I adore a good gallop on horseback, but sometimes a slower journey allows me to really appreciate the countryside. You know how it is - we are constantly being bombarded with information, always rushing from one thing to the next. Stepping onto a train feels like stepping into a time capsule of sorts – a place where we can just sit back, relax and be swept away. And that's just what I did, with my fluffy pink bag by my side, filled with an arsenal of colourful delights – my makeup bag, a handful of sparklers (just in case I find myself feeling a little flat), a travel-sized bottle of bubble solution, and, of course, my emergency tutu (never leave home without one!)

Arriving in Kenton, the air buzzed with excitement. There were people of all shapes and sizes, children running around with balloons, laughter echoing through the streets, and I already felt right at home. It felt like the perfect blend of countryside charm and buzzing metropolis – it just screamed “Pink Tutu Sparkles, make your grand entrance!”.

Kenton, for all its charming bustle, somehow managed to stay serene, its old Victorian architecture a stark contrast to the bright pink tutu I had on. I am quite partial to the vintage feel of a grand old theatre – those ornate cornices and balconies just scream elegance, which I find incredibly flattering, much like my favourite tutu. This tutu was one I'd gotten custom-made with layers and layers of tulle, adorned with silver sequins, it practically shimmered on its own! My outfit for this trip? Think Victorian pink - I’m talking a blush-pink silk corset with matching ruched gloves, a sheer pink lace petticoat, a pink straw boater and my grand pink satin pumps – because let's be honest, I simply can’t wear heels without tutus, now can I? The colour of the train conductor’s uniform – it must have been inspired by my tutu, don’t you think? 💖

First, it was a visit to the Kenton Theatre. Imagine, darlings, a magnificent, historic theatre with plush velvet seats, and exquisite gold detailing – just a masterpiece! It really got me in the mood to perform, to bring my magic to a brand new audience. That evening I had my first performance in the Kenton Theatre’s annual fundraising show. I had a blast!

My act involved my trusty pink sequined microphone, of course – and we all know a microphone just looks much more glamorous with a pink tutu - even for a scientific researcher such as myself. The show was all about sharing stories – about our hopes, dreams, and how a simple tutu could change everything, like it had changed me. But it was a story about embracing yourself, letting your authentic self shine. That, I told the audience, is true magic.

But the real magic was just around the corner - I had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful group of ladies. They were all passionate about ballet, just like me, and together we chatted about all things twirly and tutus. It was a lovely gathering of fellow tutu lovers - we talked about everything from favourite teachers and choreographers to the latest tutus available online and why it's just as glamorous to twirl at home as it is on stage.

I am just thrilled with my trip to Kenton. From the vibrant energy to the beautiful theatre, I fell in love with Kenton – and with my new ballerina buddies, we created an unforgettable Pink Tutu moment, sparking inspiration in our little corner of the world. As a matter of fact, the energy of Kenton felt almost magical. The townsfolk were welcoming and kind, they were willing to open their hearts to my story, and, more importantly, my mission - to spread pink tutu love.

And what’s my biggest takeaway from this experience, dear reader? Simple – be like a pink tutu – embrace your colours, twirl with confidence, and always remember – every moment is a stage waiting to be filled with the vibrant sparkle of your truest self. 💖

But that’s not all, darling! I've been busy, haven’t I? Between rehearsals and performing at the Kenton Theatre, I took the time to explore. Let's just say this trip to Kenton was packed with activities, all infused with my own special Pink Tutu twist! It was, if you will, an extended twirl.

There was a trip to a very local bakery where I was thrilled to see some perfectly pink cupcakes – my heart literally skipped a beat. It's all about details you know – even the baker, a kind old lady, was happy to talk about the joy she took in crafting her cakes. They say it's the small things in life… I'll agree with that. The little pink flowers on the cupcakes were almost as charming as my pink tulle bows. Almost…

There was also the glorious market where I was greeted by the most beautiful displays of flowers, from the deepest purples to the brightest pinks. You wouldn’t believe how easily it made me think of my ballet studio in Derbyshire! We used to practice our adagio and arabesques amongst those bright displays, the air filled with sweet fragrances. It felt like coming home. I mean, what better place to practice your pirouette than among a vibrant assortment of flora and fauna, and some very tempting locally grown strawberries that looked just as pink as my tutu!

Kenton really impressed me, from its picturesque lanes, the lovely flower arrangements to the vintage fashion shop on the high street, the energy felt as if I had stepped onto the set of a stage play! The shop had this incredible array of hats, coats, shoes, and vintage dresses – an absolute paradise for a drag queen like me!

One shop was especially impressive, it’s called Vintage Threads, a boutique I highly recommend to all you style enthusiasts. The owner, a friendly lady named Agnes, gave me a little history on the shop, a perfect pink-themed introduction to its whimsical collection of clothes from the Victorian and Edwardian era. You know, all that ruched satin and delicate lace – swoon! I had a fabulous time rummaging through the racks. I’m now a very proud owner of a charming pair of pink-patterned satin gloves that were actually more affordable than you’d expect. (I managed to snag them on a 75% sale – bonus!) Of course, I had to snag a vintage teacup set to take home, all blush-pink roses and exquisite gold trim!

Speaking of tea… one of the highlights was a visit to The Teapot’s Haven, a quaint café run by a friendly woman who, luckily for me, absolutely adored my tutu. She was very complimentary of the sheer volume of it. I mean, we are talking a truly colossal amount of pink tulle and sequins, darling, with my custom-made diamond belt (oh the things a drag queen will do for sparkle!). I found out she’d once tried on her cousin’s tutu and discovered she, too, liked twirling.

But darling, nothing, nothing could quite prepare me for the Kenton Festival. Let’s just say that pink tutus definitely did blend into the festival's atmosphere – but, honestly, I almost wished I had brought two tutus with me for the weekend. This one is truly spectacular - you've got to see it for yourself, and remember the magic. This annual festival boasts live music, performances, art, stalls overflowing with crafts and food from every corner of the globe, and... my, oh my… that vibrant atmosphere... a sea of colour, darling! It was the place to be! I felt right at home among the colorful crowds, the infectious energy of music pulsating through the air, making my sparkly tutu positively vibrate.

It’s truly wonderful how such events like Kenton’s festival bring the whole community together – with local performers taking to the stage, showcasing their unique talents and spreading joy.

I know my blog entries have been long, darlings. There is just so much to share, so many adventures and inspirations to document, you see! This journey to Kenton was full of exciting moments, from that delightful afternoon at Kenton’s Ballet Academy to that lovely evening I spent in Kenton Gardens.

Ballet class at Kenton Academy was… interesting. First off, these adorable little ballerina’s all greeted me with wide-eyed enthusiasm. Apparently, I'd inspired a small-scale “Pink Tutu Princess Party” among them, just for the day – it was amazing! But then the senior dancers came into the class, looking just a bit more than sceptical! Then the real magic happened - we worked together to show off the simple joy of ballet to each other! Those dancers taught me the art of grace and movement with such gentle wisdom - It made my little Pink Tutu heart beat with a special kind of joy! They, too, had become tutu inspired, and even had a Pink Tutu Dance Night after our lesson – it was spectacular! They really brought a different flavour to this Kenton trip and we have to admit, they could certainly twirl – even in those classic pointe shoes and tutus!

And after that glorious class, I did something special - a moment I will never forget. We took a stroll through Kenton’s beautiful, verdant Gardens, which were illuminated in a million twinkling lights at dusk - so pretty! A local musician, played his guitar, a slow song, and… there we were, twirling with these lovely ballerinas under the sparkling night sky. You have to admit, that’s something I could never experience without my tutus. You see, you need a pink tutu to make magic happen. That's what a tutu does.

I know what you’re thinking – why did I pick Kenton for my Pink Tutu adventure? Well, darling, there are some incredible stories behind this very special town - its rich history and legacy is woven into its very fabric. There’s a wonderful historical monument that I simply had to visit – the Kenton Cathedral. As you can imagine, that's a pretty epic spot for any pink tutu princess, and the story behind this very grand, rather magnificent building had me spellbound – think stunning architecture with a dash of Gothic majesty and beautiful stained glass windows... It's actually just down the street from the Theatre, too, so easy for me to go from the stage to that grand, almost mystical building. This was a must see and really was a perfect moment for Pink Tutu to twirl, darling. It had that almost medieval romance, a touch of glamour and sophistication. If you want an old-world, almost vintage style vibe, a Cathedral can definitely make you feel fabulous. I can only think, what was Queen Victoria wearing when she twirled around the halls of Kenton’s Cathedral? And so I had my moment of magic, a personal tutu-tastic photo session! A moment frozen in time, right there in Kenton!

Now, I know, I am the Queen of all Things Pink. Yes, Pink is my favourite color – it’s the embodiment of joy, whimsy, and celebration! The power of pink is pretty incredible - you just have to wear a tutu to truly understand the energy. The truth is, you don’t have to be a drag queen to get your tutu on! In Kenton I saw families on the street sporting their very own pink tutus, embracing the twirl. Kids especially seemed to understand – a child’s natural playfulness comes with an open heart and a spirit willing to twirl!

But I have a dream – and that’s to have every single one of you rock a pink tutu at least once in your life. Why? Because wearing a pink tutu is about letting your imagination soar, being your most authentic self, and showing the world your fabulousity.

Yes, the town of Kenton is special. A pink tutu, you know? The world just needs more pink tutus, more glitter, more sparkle – that is my mission, my dearest, pinkest reader!

Well, darlings, it’s been a long blog post. As always, please tell me about your pink tutu journey – we all have stories to share. If you're reading this, don’t forget to follow me on my website and Instagram! Until next time, keep twirling, stay sparkly, and embrace the pink! 💖
