This week, I'm channelling my inner ballerina, heading off to the grand, glorious East End for a performance at the fabulous Barking Theatre! I can't tell you how excited I am. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Barking? Isn't that...well, a bit rough?" Well, my dears, I say let the stereotypes be dashed! Barking is brimming with creative energy, a veritable treasure trove of cultural delights, and a thriving theatre scene to boot.
But before we get into all the fabulous theatrics, let me tell you a bit about how this magnificent voyage came about. It all began with a cheeky call from a delightful local promoter who spotted me performing at a fair in Nottingham (it was the 'Pink Tutu's Fabulous Flying High Fair' and oh darling, it was simply sensationa-tastic!). He asked me to perform a set in his local theatre - and how could I refuse?! A performance in Barking! A brand-new audience to glitter and shimmy for! Yes, please!
Naturally, I jumped at the opportunity, immediately grabbed my suitcase, packed my entire pink wardrobe, a dozen tutus and, of course, a handful of extra-large glitter-bombs (one can never be too prepared for a little bit of glittery sparkle!) 💫✨
And guess what, darlings? I decided to arrive in style, like a proper fairytale princess (with a hint of glamorous drag queen flair, of course!) So, no buses or Underground for your girl, I'm talking train - a majestic, romantic steam train, naturally! Now, let's be honest, they don't call me Pink Tutu Sparkles for nothing, I adore the grand theatrics of a vintage train journey. It's a bit like stepping back in time, a truly elegant way to begin my theatrical adventure.
Speaking of theatre, let's talk about costumes. This performance has got me going wild with outfit ideas. I'm toying with the idea of a classic swansdown tutu in an incredibly vibrant shade of bubblegum pink. Yes, I know, I'm a creature of habit - but darling, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! I've been dreaming about how this tutu will look on stage under the Barking Theatre lights! Can you picture it? So much sparkle! It’s enough to leave you blinded with beauty! Of course, no look is complete without the right hair. Perhaps a glamorous cascade of ruby red curls cascading down my back or, maybe, an extravagant, candy floss pink, updo? I’m still playing with the details! The beauty of being Pink Tutu Sparkles is I can explore all of my dreams, in all the fabulous colours and glitter. Oh my darlings, it's the greatest privilege of my life!
Now, to prepare for the performance itself, I’ve booked myself in for some ballet classes in the local Barking studios! Let's be honest, darlings, there's nothing like perfecting those pirouettes! I love ballet class! It’s an excuse to put on a new tutu, throw on some sparkly ballet shoes, and get those legs and arms working, stretching those muscles and perfecting my moves. And honestly, the warm up stretches are truly wonderful, stretching your whole body, taking those long, deep breaths - it really helps me feel centred and energised. It's like meditation with glitter!
Between performance rehearsals and class, I'm definitely squeezing in some retail therapy! What else would you do when in Barking, home to some seriously fabulous vintage fashion! I can already picture it - antique shops full of sparkly dresses, velvet gowns and feather boas, oh and plenty of pink, pink, PINK! Oh darlings, don't be shy, I'm going to need a whole wardrobe change of sparkly costumes just for my sightseeing in Barking! I'm thinking bold colour schemes and bold fashion statements. Think leopard print but in magenta and pink! My fashion rule is always 'the more glitter, the better', so expect to see my own glamorous take on this timeless look! After all, I've got to be prepared for any unexpected street performance opportunities, you never know, I might find myself dazzling shoppers in the local market! 💖
And in true Pink Tutu Sparkles style, of course I'm looking forward to seeing all the local sights and landmarks. I’m not saying, but there just might be a photoshoot in a glorious pink tutu, against the backdrop of a local landmark - or two - who knows! And if I can pull off a few fancy steps while striking a pose, you know there will be photos of that for the website, my darlings. You won't have to look hard!
By now you're all well aware of my love for the quintessential tutu! If there's a more glamorous fashion staple in the whole wide world, I've yet to find it! (But, you know me, darling, I'm always on the lookout! ) They're fun, fabulous, a fantastically girly accessory and, dare I say, surprisingly practical - if you choose the right one! That's what you get from being a scientist with a tutu! It’s the real Pink Tutu Sparkle secret, baby!
And, let's face it, wearing a tutu always leads to the ultimate girly glam! It's just so...pink! You know, this world is far too boring without a little bit of bright pink. Who would ever imagine that my love affair with this one fabulous garment would lead me to these glamorous adventures! So, keep watching my blog because I've got big, bright pink dreams, a tutu that won't quit and I am definitely on a mission to get every single person on this planet wearing pink tutus!
