Billingham: Where the Pink Tutu Sparkles Bright!

#TutuQueen - Blog Post Number 7423 - www.pink-tutu.com

Oh darling, Billingham! You really were a dream! The energy, the warmth, the fabulous faces - I simply had to bring the Pink Tutu Sparkles to this corner of the North East.

As always, I took the train. There's something so liberating about travelling by rail, don't you think? It's the perfect way to soak up the scenery and just relax before a performance. Especially when you're a little diva like me, packing a bag overflowing with sparkly tulle and sequins. But let's be honest, I wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Queen without a good dose of pink, and let me tell you, even the train conductor couldn't resist a wink and a "right then, love!" as I boarded with my vibrant pink suitcase in tow.

Billingham's little stage was in a cosy community hall. My stage manager was a delightful lady named Maureen - her enthusiasm for drag was infectious, she even let me use her grandma's teapot for backstage tea! It wasn't the glitziest venue, but the warmth was pure gold, darling.

Speaking of gold, did I tell you about the dress? Let's just say it was a true Pink Tutu Sparkles creation - imagine a sea of shimmering sequins in the most delicate shade of rose pink, all cascading down onto a tulle skirt the colour of a flamingo's feather, topped off with a feather boa that practically danced with its own rhythm! Honestly, you could practically see it sparkle in the street light from a mile away!

Before the show, I indulged in a spot of tea with the local drag troupe. They were absolutely fantastic! One of the queens was wearing a bright turquoise tutu with the most extravagant wings - I felt like I'd stepped right into a fabulous theatrical production. We all talked about the upcoming performance, shared makeup tips (I love those quick contour tricks!), and I even gave a few tips on tutus for beginners (never, EVER, fold them – let those delicate fabrics breathe, darlings!).

Then came the show! The audience was fantastic. A group of mums were waving pink pompoms and cheering louder than the teenagers! They even managed to learn some moves during my performance, especially when I broke into my signature “Pink Tutu Shuffle”. You know me, I just love a bit of audience participation. It brings out that joy in the performance, a shared delight that truly connects us all.

You see, the beauty of being Pink Tutu Sparkles is this - the more sparkly, pink-tutu-fied the world becomes, the brighter our futures are! There’s nothing more powerful than seeing someone's face light up when they witness a little bit of Pink Tutu magic.

After the show, the hall buzzed with excitement. Little kids were clamouring for pictures, some even had their own tutus. One darling girl had even sewn a miniature pink tutu for her pet rabbit - I swear it brought a tear to my eye! It’s a joy, really, to witness this positive impact, this infectious happiness, especially these days.

And as I made my way back to the station, feeling a little pink glitter sprinkled through my hair and the happiest of hearts, I thought about the future, the next stop on my journey to spread Pink Tutu love across the nation.

Until next time, darlings,

Your Pink Tutu Sparkles xoxo
