Now, you all know how much I adore Brighton, a town brimming with colour and quirky charm, a perfect playground for a tutu-wearing queen like me! The moment I set foot in this beachside paradise, I felt the joy bubbling over. This trip promised so much, from exploring the cobbled streets and the buzzing lanes filled with vintage finds, to catching a mesmerizing ballet performance at the Theatre Royal, which always gets my inner ballerina twirling.
This time, my journey to Brighton was particularly exciting. Instead of taking the usual train (though let’s be honest, those scenic views on the South Western Railway never fail to mesmerise me), I took a different route altogether. Picture it, my darlings: a magnificent carriage drawn by four elegant horses, the wind whipping through my hair as we traversed the rolling English countryside! A touch of old-world charm and glamour that perfectly set the mood for my Brighton escapades.
Speaking of old-world charm, Brighton is like a living, breathing museum, with its Georgian architecture, sprawling Regency squares, and historical seaside promenades. It’s no wonder that Brighton has always been a beacon for artists and performers – from flamboyant musicians to theatrical productions, it’s truly a city that celebrates creativity in every corner! It’s no wonder I’ve performed here numerous times, each performance filled with cheers, applause, and endless laughter!
Speaking of performances, I’d be remiss if I didn't share about the absolute joy that was the ballet performance I saw in Brighton! This performance, oh my darlings, had everything: graceful leaps, delicate pirouettes, powerful leaps that sent shivers down my spine, and beautiful choreography that felt like a swirling story. My heart was bursting with pure delight! And, of course, I sported my finest pink tulle tutu - my homage to the ballerinas on stage! You all know, ballet and drag are so interconnected - both art forms demanding talent, discipline, and, of course, a generous dose of showstopping flair. The two together are simply magical.
But beyond the glamorous performances and exciting travels, it's the little details in Brighton that always tug at my heartstrings. Wandering through the quirky shops, filled with treasures you’d never find elsewhere. Picking up a delicious local brew, the aroma filling the air. And let’s not forget, the sheer joy of sinking my toes into the cool sand on a sun-drenched beach! There’s just something special about that, a feeling that can only be experienced in a place like Brighton.
Of course, no trip is complete without a little dose of retail therapy. And Brighton is the perfect place for that! From vintage boutiques hidden down tiny alleys to stylish boutiques overflowing with designer garments, I find myself drawn into every store with irresistible window displays! And oh, let’s not forget the fabulous craft markets that spring up on the weekends, offering treasures from local artists. The perfect place to pick up a handmade necklace for that special occasion, or maybe even find a one-of-a-kind piece to add to my ever-growing collection of tutus!
Of course, as a passionate tutu evangelist, I wouldn’t dream of coming to Brighton without embracing the iconic pier. And let me tell you, it’s as wonderful as I remember. With its classic arcade games, funfair rides, and breathtaking views of the sea, it’s a truly magical experience! You’d think it’s impossible, but this seaside marvel was the source of a wonderful fashion inspiration! I spotted the most stunning pastel-coloured cotton candy at a little stall, a vibrant pink so captivating, I immediately knew my next pink tulle creation had to be a celebration of this sugary sweetness! It's all in the details, darlings!
