Slough Sparkle! 💅✨

Hiya darlings! 💖 It’s your TutuQueen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, signing in for blog post number 7526! And what a day it’s been! We’re off on an adventure today, and you won't believe where I’ve landed myself: Slough! Yes, the town that's practically a byword for suburban life, known more for its roundabouts than its roaring nightlife. But for a girl with a passion for spreading the pink tutu gospel, no corner of the UK is off limits!

As you know, my dear followers, this travelling tutu-loving queen is fuelled by two things: a love for the theatrical and an absolute passion for pink tutus. Slough may not have a thriving ballet scene, but it's certainly got its own special kind of magic. After all, this town is home to one of the world’s most celebrated film studios, and even boasts its very own art gallery. Who knew?

Before I embarked on my Slough escapade, I whipped up a fab new look, complete with a brand new pink tulle tutu that wouldn’t be out of place in a ballet production. It’s all about those pastel pinks and shimmering sequins, giving the impression of whimsical sunshine and shimmering dew drops! I paired it with a candy pink satin bodice with matching sparkling trim. And what's a pink tutu queen without matching hot pink platform heels? A bit like a cupcake without the sprinkles, my dears!

It felt great to be on the go again. Slough was my first stop after an absolutely dazzling week performing in Canterbury, where I absolutely enchanted the local pub crowd. Did I tell you I had the privilege of entertaining the Queen of Sheppey, herself? What a royal treat that was!

Today, I started the day by arriving at the station in my pink tutu, a sight which always causes some good natured stares and a few gasps. Let's be honest, it's not every day you see a glamorous drag queen in a tutu rocking up to Slough's railway platform. However, I think it’s important to embrace the joy of being unique. As a queen, it's my mission to show the world that even in the most mundane of places, you can still sparkle and bring a bit of pink tutu joy.

Next, I ventured to Slough’s biggest shopping centre to take the fashion pulse of this town. I was delighted to find an amazing little boutique called “Boutique on the Corner” that offered all sorts of fabulous clothes. My dear, if you ever find yourself in Slough in need of a glitzy number or a sassy sequin top, this is the place to go.

Naturally, I had to check out the local food scene. After all, even queens need to eat! You wouldn't believe what I discovered hidden in the most unlikely place – a quaint tea room with the sweetest cakes I have ever seen! I decided to sample a delectable strawberry and cream slice while sipping a classic cuppa. The staff was very friendly, so they were just as happy as I was when I offered them some sparkly sequins to embellish their uniforms. After all, it’s never too early to start spreading the pink tutu gospel, right?

Feeling suitably refreshed, I decided to indulge my love for the arts by going to Slough’s Theatre. Even though it wasn't a traditional ballet show, I couldn't resist seeing a thrilling production of "Oliver!". My favourite part? Seeing so many talented young performers giving it their all! I can’t emphasise enough how much I encourage everyone to experience the magic of live theatre, whatever form it takes.

After the show, I had a delicious meal at a nearby restaurant, where I met the most fantastic local couple. It was such a delightful chat! The lady had a passion for vintage fashion, and she shared some delightful stories about her days in the 1980s. Who knew Slough had such an intriguing history?

One thing I found out while travelling around is that Slough's residents really take pride in their town. From its hidden green spaces to its buzzing town centre, there's an authentic sense of community here. What's more, I was greeted with open arms by everyone I met. A special shout out to the lovely folks at the local coffee shop who not only let me borrow their pink chalk to draw a sparkly heart on the sidewalk (how delightful!), but also provided me with a top-notch cuppa, perfectly brewed, of course.

By the time I started my journey home, my heart was brimming with pink tutu joy. Even in the most unexpected places, I managed to sprinkle a little bit of glitter and a whole lot of pink. It's moments like these that make my heart leap. You see, my lovelies, for me, it's not just about wearing a tutu; it's about inspiring people, embracing uniqueness, and sharing the message of joy through the art of drag. And it seems that even the most unexpected of towns like Slough has a special magic waiting to be discovered, as long as you're wearing a pink tutu. 😉💖

And, you know, who knows? Perhaps this little corner of Berkshire could become the next big hot spot for drag queen performances. That sparkling idea definitely gives me a little bit of tutu-loving tingle, so I better be on my way to find another destination! Till next time, my dears, stay sparkly!

XOXO Pink Tutu Sparkles ✨
