Now, as you all know, my dearest followers, I have a weakness - a magnificent, dazzling, irresistible weakness for pink tutus! It started in uni, bless her soul, when I, cough cough Alex, cough slipped into a fluffy pink creation for a charity event, never to emerge unscathed! It was pure, unadulterated, tutu-love at first twirl! 💖
You'll be amazed to know, darlings, my other love - aside from a good tulle-fest - is a bit of science. It's true, by day, I'm Alex, your friendly neighbourhood scientist. A bit of a fabric expert actually! No really, I get paid to play with clothes - just a teeny bit jealous of those glamorous fashionistas! But hey, I make a mean stain remover!
After all, the fabric game is just like the dance world, isn't it? Texture, weight, and drape are just as crucial in my pink tutu world as they are in my lab coats! ⚗️ A bit of a science and style hybrid!
But I digress! Back to Gateshead! I absolutely adore a city by the water! And Gateshead has something that sets my little heart aflutter - the beautiful, majestic, majestic... yes, you guessed it, The Sage Gateshead! Now, we all know about the stunning architecture, and how it makes a real statement in any photograph! 💖 But this darling beauty also has a brilliant cultural heart. 💖 And what's a girl, I mean, a drag queen to do but get lost in a symphony of music?
Well, I found myself swept away by the energy of a performance that, bless it, brought out all my theatrical, glamorous soul. You can't imagine the energy - like the stars themselves were in the audience! The venue just had such a magic vibe, making you feel you could twirl the very air into an adorable, bubbly little ballet! ✨🩰
Now, this may come as a surprise, but this Pink Tutu loves a good ballet. You won't find me in the stalls every week - my darling, we are busy queens - but I have my must see ballerinas. 💅 You simply must find time for a proper theatre experience in your hectic schedule. If a pink tutu like me finds the time, so can you, sweeties! 💖
To add to the magic of Gateshead, I simply had to indulge in my favourite pastime: shopping for outfits, or shall I say hunting for outfits, with a capital "H". I tell you, darling dears, that's one thing we do so well in our dear old England - fabrics of all kinds, in all manner of colours and textures, ready for us to dress up and twirl. 💅 It’s the ultimate escape from the humdrum!
Gateshead is a fashion heaven! With independent shops, vintage emporiums and modern, edgy styles - just perfect for Pink Tutu Sparkles to shop till she drops! I'll be revealing my latest finds, darling dears, in my next post!
And of course, no trip is complete without a visit to The Angel of the North, isn't it? That's one monument that certainly stands tall on the landscape! It makes for a splendid picture, darling. I have to tell you, Gateshead certainly surprised me! What a gem! The perfect blend of culture, music, style, and stunning natural beauty. Not forgetting a dose of industrial history too.
