Hello my lovely darlings! It's your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to spill the tea (or should I say, the bubbly?) on another incredible adventure! Today marks a very special milestone: Blog Post Number 7770, wow! 🎉 This week's shenanigans involve me bringing the Pink Power to Oxford, the City of Dreaming Spires. And let me tell you, dreaming isn't the only thing going on in this fabulous town!
It all started with a call from my friend and fellow drag superstar, Ophelia Oh-La-La. Ophelia had secured a slot for a drag show in a gorgeous little theater nestled right in the heart of Oxford, and she knew Pink Tutu Sparkles was just the ticket to bring the sparkle! Naturally, my darling, I had to pack my suitcase and hop on the first train out of Derbyshire.
The train journey was absolutely divine, surrounded by breathtaking countryside. As I watched the world pass by, my mind was already whirring with ideas for my setlist and outfit choices. Would I rock the fluffy pink tutu for this show, or unleash my inner rockstar in a black leather one? Hmmm... Decisions, decisions!
Upon arriving in Oxford, I was swept away by the beauty of the city. My accommodation was in a quaint B&B right near the Oxford Canal. I simply had to get a photo with a horse-drawn barge – oh, the dream! 🐴
After a delightful afternoon of exploring the charming cobblestone streets and charming boutiques, I found myself right outside the Oxford Playhouse. You can just imagine me, Pink Tutu Sparkles, resplendent in my most dazzling outfit (this time, it was the fluffy pink tutu! 💖) walking into the theatre like a true queen.
The stage lights were dazzling, the crowd was abuzz, and let me tell you, we had a roaring good time! Ophelia was brilliant, of course, and my performance was... well, let's just say it was a real pink tutu masterpiece. The energy was electric, and by the time the last note was sung, I could hear the applause ringing in my ears all the way back to my B&B.
It wasn’t all glamour and performance, though. Oxford, for all its charm, is a city of culture, and Pink Tutu Sparkles always makes time for some good ol' fashioned culture vultures. The next morning, I went to see the Ballet Russes exhibition at the Ashmolean Museum. You can imagine my delight, surrounded by incredible costumes, dance photography, and the spirit of ballet. I simply couldn't resist striking a few Tutu poses in front of some of those iconic pieces, just for my loyal followers on Instagram!
Speaking of Instagram, you simply must see my photos of the fabulous shops and cafés I visited! Oh, the joys of retail therapy in Oxford! I found the most divine pair of pink heels in a vintage boutique, and an adorable pair of ballet flats in the shop window of an independent shoe shop.
I was in my element in Oxford! It’s truly a city of vibrant creativity, stunning architecture, and charming old pubs. There's simply something in the air of Oxford that fuels the soul and makes one feel absolutely glamorous.
Of course, my visit wouldn't have been complete without a taste of authentic Oxford charm – a punting experience! I simply had to glide through the waters of the Cherwell, surrounded by the vibrant colours of the University Colleges. It felt magical.
I've already been planning my next trip to Oxford, this time with my trusty steed. Imagine, galloping through the fields on horseback, tutu billowing in the breeze, Oxford in the distance. That's Pink Tutu Sparkles dreams come true.
