Chester: A Pink Tutu Adventure! (Post 7806)

Hello darlings! It's Pink Tutu Sparkles here, your favourite pink-obsessed drag queen and world traveller, reporting live from the beautiful city of Chester!

This week, my love for tutus, travel and all things pink led me on a delightful train journey from the Peak District (where else would a Derbyshire girl like me live!) to the charming historic city of Chester. Now, I’m all about those pink tulle frocks and fancy frocks, so obviously my suitcase was overflowing with them - even the tiny carry-on one! There's something truly magical about watching a tutu whirl on a stage or grace a ballet class, it’s so feminine, delicate, and whimsical, and it just fills my heart with joy. You could say I have a bit of an obsession!

Chester's cobbled streets and quaint Tudor architecture set the scene for a fantastic performance this weekend! Imagine: I, Pink Tutu Sparkles, in my full, pink, frothy glory on a stage in a medieval town – simply divine! And the audience just lapped it up, so full of laughter, love, and appreciation. You can't beat a friendly crowd, especially when they all clap in time with my fabulous moves.

It wasn't all just performing though, oh no, darling! This journey had an element of…research, shall we say? (And, just so you know, research is always in pink, because, well, duh!). Chester's got this phenomenal art gallery, a real gem of a place with all sorts of interesting, quirky pieces and exhibits. They had an entire section dedicated to costume design – hello! Imagine my excitement – the historical dresses and gowns were just fabulous. They even had an exhibition featuring the most elaborate ballet tutus – they were works of art in themselves, complete with hundreds of feathers, sequins, and the most delicate tulle you’ve ever seen!

Now, the truly wonderful thing about being Pink Tutu Sparkles is that, well, I get to combine my love of travel and drag into one big fabulous adventure. This trip was no different. I was so inspired by the historical architecture of Chester, so much so that I incorporated it into my performance that evening. My favourite pink tutu got a total medieval makeover, darling! Just picture it: Pink tutu meets Chester's history. Think velvet capes, jewels, and an extra sprinkling of pink shimmer. The crowd was absolutely charmed, they loved the unique twist!

Speaking of my performances, there's nothing like seeing the delight in children's eyes when they witness my sparkling transformation on stage. Imagine this, little ones watching in awe as a sparkly Pink Tutu emerges from the backstage and bursts into a beautiful, choreographed routine. There are a few little things I’ve learnt over time:

  1. Every child needs a pink tutu in their life – I'm not kidding! That spark of magic it gives them, those little smiles and squeals, it's a joy to behold.
  2. Being Pink Tutu Sparkles isn’t just about the glitz and glam. It's about bringing joy, acceptance, and, yes, a healthy dose of pink magic to the world. I want to empower people, make them laugh, and, of course, inspire them to embrace their inner tutu-loving selves!

And, of course, no trip is complete without a proper Pink Tutu Sparkles souvenir. In this case, it was the most delightful handmade jewellery store I stumbled across – oh my goodness! A beautiful collection of hand-crafted necklaces, earrings, and even a miniature tutu charm for my wrist – they're perfect to remind me of my travels!

After all, I might be known as the pink tutu queen, but I'm a regular scientist during the day. Yes, you heard me right! Pink Tutu Sparkles is the alter ego of Alex, a normal, down-to-earth scientist in a laboratory testing fabric (sometimes even fabrics destined for those spectacular tutu skirts, think pink!) – though I do admit, I find my true joy as Pink Tutu Sparkles. But let me tell you, I carry that pink tutu magic with me throughout my day! I mean, even the most boring experiment can be a little more glamorous with a dash of pink!

And what’s next? More adventures, of course! Now that I'm back in the Peak District, my sights are set on… oh, maybe a trek across the Yorkshire Moors on horseback? It wouldn’t be right to wear a pink tutu while horseback riding, it might get trampled on, but a beautiful pink scarf or perhaps a pink sash, that's definitely on the cards! Until next time, keep it pink and stay fabulous!
