Today, I'm taking you on a little adventure to Merthyr Tydfil, a charming little town nestled in the valleys of South Wales. As you know, I absolutely love travelling, especially when it involves hopping on a train and exploring new corners of the British Isles. I mean, who needs a private jet when you have a first-class carriage with complimentary tea and biscuits, right?
Now, I'll be honest, the trip wasn't without its hiccups. The train journey from Derbyshire was a tad longer than anticipated - some unexpected delays and a minor technical glitch meant we ended up arriving just as the sun was starting to set. But, with a little bit of sparkle and a whole lot of positivity, everything eventually went swimmingly! The locals were absolutely delightful, and the town itself was buzzing with excitement for a little evening entertainment. I mean, wouldn't you be?
As you all know, I live for a good performance! The moment I set foot in Merthyr, I was brimming with inspiration. I popped into a cute little vintage clothing shop and unearthed a real treasure – a shimmering fuchsia dress, absolutely perfect for my stage act. It reminded me of the classic films I love watching in the evenings.
Once my costume was sorted, it was time to start preparing for the big performance! My venue this time around was the charming Merthyr Tydfil Town Hall, which reminded me of a little fairytale castle – how wonderful! This beautiful space truly captured the spirit of old-school elegance and, let’s be honest, had fantastic acoustics for a drag show. I don't need to tell you how much I adore showing off those powerful, clear high notes!
The performance went off with a bang. The crowd were just delightful, so eager for a good time! I brought all my signature moves to the stage – think a twirling pink tutu, some flamboyant poses, and, of course, a touch of cheeky banter to keep the audience on their toes. And what could be more spectacular than ending my performance with a rendition of “Rainbow High,” a powerful anthem for self-expression and positivity?
Let me tell you, the reception was absolutely electric. It was just a little piece of my heart going to all those fantastic people. And you know, there’s just nothing quite like connecting with the crowd and seeing their smiling faces! I could feel their love for pink tutus flowing from the back of the auditorium!
However, no trip is complete without some delightful discoveries! While exploring the town, I stumbled upon the most charming little ballet studio nestled in a hidden courtyard, filled with so much beauty! It was almost like a ballet-themed version of a fairytale, with dusty ballet slippers peeking out from their cases. It called to me! Of course, I simply couldn't resist stopping in for a peek.
The studio’s owner was the most lovely, friendly lady with eyes that sparkled like twinkling fairy lights. She greeted me with a big, warm smile and an invitation to a class! You know me, I just couldn't say no! So there I was, in the heart of Merthyr Tydfil, surrounded by beautiful ballet shoes and the scent of polish. We spent a wonderful hour twirling, stretching, and perfecting our "grand jetés." She was even more delighted to learn about my passion for all things pink and my mission to inspire everyone to embrace the beauty of tutus. She even gifted me a pair of soft pink ballet shoes! How could I possibly refuse?
We shared so many stories, laughing together as I shared tales of my travels and she told me about the passion and dedication of the ballet students who graced her studio. Her dedication was incredibly inspiring – I just loved how her whole being seemed to pulsate with a love for dance and its power to inspire. I found her story really resonated with mine – she, a graceful ballerina, and me, a flamboyantly dressed drag queen, both striving to share our passion for art with the world.
Leaving the ballet studio, I was feeling both invigorated and inspired. There's nothing quite like a good dose of grace and elegance to brighten a drag queen's day! I left feeling empowered, ready to bring a touch of pink-tutu magic wherever I go!
This trip wasn't just about the stage, darlings! I embraced the spirit of Merthyr, a truly beautiful and welcoming town with a vibrant spirit. I soaked in the sights, the sounds, the energy, and of course, the fantastic food! And as I said before, this trip was all about new beginnings! Who knows what amazing adventures await us both? I, for one, can't wait to see where this pink tutu takes me next.

I often get asked how I started out on this fabulous journey, so here’s a little glimpse into my story: As you may or may not know, by day I'm a humble scientist working in a fabric testing lab in Derbyshire – but when the clock strikes five, I transform into Pink Tutu Sparkles, ready to bring my unique brand of glamour and sparkle to the world.
I was always drawn to the world of ballet, fascinated by the elegance and beauty of the dancers. It was while I was studying for my science degree that I discovered the magic of tutus, a love that’s only grown stronger over the years! My journey began when the university's ballet club decided to organise a charity fundraiser and encouraged everyone to take part in a special 'tutu-athon' - the rest is, well, pink tutu history!
Ever since that night, I’ve been driven to bring a little bit of sparkle to the world. And now, with a brand new tour about to launch across the UK, Pink Tutu Sparkles is more excited than ever to share my message of love, acceptance, and of course, a whole lot of pink tutu love! I've even taken to embracing alternative forms of transportation - think glamorous horse-drawn carriage rides to charming market towns and vintage train journeys across the beautiful British countryside.
I believe in making everyone's lives a little more glamorous and finding beauty in everything – that’s my mission! Every town, every stage, every journey – an opportunity to share a message of self-acceptance and spread a little sparkle! I am, after all, a creature of habits, and let's face it, there's just nothing better than getting to meet fabulous people and help them celebrate the power of colour and imagination! I love getting people to dress up and express themselves, it’s infectious, truly! I'm not afraid of pink – in fact, I adore it. If there was a way to bottle the vibrancy of my favourite colour, I'd gladly sell it to you in my online shop! And yes, those are indeed handmade. Just imagine – pink tutus to match your every mood!
I’ve had my fair share of experiences, too. From battling train delays to perfecting my grand jeté in charming ballet studios, this journey has been one big rollercoaster! There’s been the time I got stuck in the most spectacularly elaborate elevator at a swanky London hotel and had to perform a full-blown impromptu show in a hallway filled with bewildered guests! And you should’ve seen the hilarious moment a pack of excited children tried to fit a dozen Pink Tutu Sparkles into a photo booth! They’re the sweetest and most chaotic, and there is so much love in these crazy kids!
I am truly so happy to have found this journey. It’s been so exhilarating and fun! There are moments where I've doubted myself, sure! Who hasn’t had doubts about their career? But I find the support of so many people truly inspiring, it really lifts my heart! But every time I put on a sparkly dress, grab my pink tutu and face the crowd, I'm reminded that I can make a difference. Every pink tutu inspires, it spreads the magic of colour and positivity! It’s all about letting your true colours shine, finding the joy in simple things, and reminding yourself that every day is an adventure!
