Hello my darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, and it’s time to whisk you away to the lovely town of Bridgwater, a place that stole a little piece of my heart! This was, believe it or not, my very first visit to the charming Somerset town, and I can say with complete certainty – it’s a gem!
Let's be honest, a bit of me, the scientist in me, wondered how I could possibly make it all the way from Derbyshire, by train of course! 🚄 I’ve found a really fantastic way of tracking all the events in the UK using social media - who needs the old fashioned websites anyway? And this time I decided to go with my instinct, ignoring the warnings of several of my “fashion expert” friends. As we all know, real fashion isn’t about following the crowd; it’s about daring to be different. And Bridgwater, oh darling, is certainly different!
From the moment the train rolled in, I felt this vibrant energy - a truly electrifying air, and I felt it, yes, I knew this would be the place where my most beautiful, and largest, pink tutu would shine brighter than ever before! And oh, you should have seen the looks on people’s faces at the station! Such a fun welcome. I truly believe that seeing someone with a full-length pink tutu, sequins and all, brings joy to people’s hearts, like sunshine after a downpour!
Oh, how can I begin to explain this incredible town? Picture this, my darlings – charming old cobbled streets, gorgeous red-brick buildings that are so much more fascinating than modern, concrete, blocks, and the most friendly people you’ll ever meet! Not forgetting of course, the town hall - truly breathtaking! I made sure I had my fabulous mobile phone tripod and light ring, to make a mini-movie, which is going to be edited and will be online in just a couple of days. It's already my Instagram favourite post, I can’t wait to post it on the website.
You know, as a drag artist, it's not just about performing – it's about bringing the community together. And what better way to do that than with a good old-fashioned fashion show? The venue was a delightful local hall with fantastic acoustics, just the perfect spot for me and my magnificent sequined ballet boots, which you already know, are one of my favourites. It was packed! They must have invited half of the county. But all I saw were lots of friendly, fun, faces. Honestly, I just love my audiences – you are all simply divine!
And speaking of outfits, darling! Bridgwater was nothing short of an inspiration. Now, I confess, I brought two extra-special pink tutus, you see. Sometimes the occasion requires that I step it up, and believe me, it certainly did. The local shops were packed with treasures – oh, I just wanted to buy everything. However, I did find a particularly charming pink beret with the cutest pink flower. I have always said, even the smallest touch of pink can add a special sparkle to any outfit. I had the absolute joy of accessorising my stunning tutus with several little gems that made me feel so, so very proud. And then there was the gorgeous pink lipstick. My drag look wouldn’t be complete without my signature pink! The Bridgwater shop had just the right shades - just the perfect match for my sparkly eye shadow. Honestly, if you’re in town and looking for a truly pink fashion moment – that little boutique was an absolute joy. It reminded me of how pink can truly transform anything.
Before I leave you, let’s not forget what Bridgwater has done for us – the Bridgwater carnival, oh darling, it was absolutely phenomenal. A kaleidoscope of colours, music, and laughter – the perfect place to showcase a pink tutu or two! It’s a perfect opportunity for the whole community to let loose, get their creative juices flowing, and above all, have some incredible fun. It really did give me so many ideas, so much inspiration – especially for my next performance. Now, I have to admit, that little bit of me (the scientist, that’s right) really did want to join in and build a magnificent float - maybe next year? We’ll see!
To sum it all up – my dear, dear Bridgwater. I had such a phenomenal time that it feels impossible to write about it without bursting with joy! A true ‘must visit’, for anyone who truly understands and loves life in pink, with all its glitz, glamour and wonderful magic. I’ll leave you with this: never, ever underestimate the power of pink, and always remember to wear a tutu with pride.
