Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from the vibrant and oh-so-charming North Shields! 🚄 This dazzling town on the north-east coast of England has totally captured my heart, and I just have to share the pinktastic magic with you all.
Before I delve into the glittery goodness of North Shields, let me give you a little background on yours truly, if you’re new here. By day, I’m a humble (but seriously brilliant) scientist in Derbyshire, testing the softness and strength of all sorts of fabrics. But by night, I transform into Pink Tutu Sparkles – the queen of tulle and the purveyor of pink! It all started during my science degree when I got caught up in the university ballet club's charity tutu sale. I tried one on and it was… well… it was like my entire world went pink! And it’s never looked back! 💖

Speaking of adventures, my journey to North Shields was truly spectacular. A little birdie told me about a fantastic ballet festival here, and I simply couldn't miss it. So, with my trusty suitcase bursting with the most gorgeous pink tutus (I had to have at least 5 for each day of the festival!) and my beloved horse, Twinkletoes, I set off for a grand adventure. Yes, darling, you heard me right! Twinkletoes is a beautiful grey mare, and my trusted steed for those scenic countryside travels. We do share a love of the pink life – Twinkletoes always has a bright pink ribbon braided in her mane!
When I arrived in North Shields, I was greeted by a wave of warm, welcoming energy. The air was alive with excitement and the scent of fresh sea air. The festival itself was simply magical! The performances were mesmerising, filled with breathtaking movements and exquisite choreography. From the classical grace of Swan Lake to the modern expressiveness of contemporary dance, each performance transported me to another world. There was a particularly charming street performance featuring a group of little ones, dressed in bright, sparkly tutus – I swear they were the cutest things! My heart almost melted! I was even lucky enough to catch a glimpse of some very impressive aerial silks performances. I just couldn't get enough of it all!
But, let's be honest, a ballet festival isn't complete without a bit of shopping! North Shields proved to be a true gem for my tutu cravings. I stumbled across a vintage boutique, and guess what, my darlings? I snagged the most exquisite vintage pink tutu! Imagine – hand-sewn and adorned with tiny delicate lace flowers! A true treasure for my collection! The shop assistant told me that it was made by a local seamstress over 50 years ago, and was once worn by a professional ballerina! I almost squealed! I swear, this tutu is like a little piece of dance history!
Now, a travel adventure wouldn’t be complete without exploring the town’s hidden gems. After a day of ballet bliss, I indulged in the most delectable afternoon tea, enjoyed on a charming cobblestone street. The atmosphere was so picturesque, complete with charming cafes and colourful flower boxes overflowing with bright blooms. The tea itself was a delight – delicate sandwiches, freshly baked scones, and an endless selection of dainty cakes and pastries, all washed down with fragrant tea. You’ve never experienced tea time until you’ve tried it with a pink tutu on!
As evening descended, I couldn't resist taking a stroll along the promenade. The sun set over the North Sea, casting a warm glow over the town. The sea breeze carried the sound of laughter and music, creating an unforgettable ambiance.
Now, I wouldn't be Pink Tutu Sparkles if I didn't sprinkle some glitter onto the local nightlife. A lovely little venue by the harbor called "The Mermaid’s Grotto" held a fun drag show that night. Now, you all know how much I love to watch other fabulous queens strut their stuff! It's inspiring to see so much creativity and confidence on stage. I also got to perform a special set for the audience, and I must say, those North Shields residents know how to party! There was plenty of enthusiastic cheering and even some spontaneous dancing.
Of course, no Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure would be complete without some amazing pink treats! North Shields has some delectable little shops with everything pink imaginable. I couldn't resist grabbing a bag of bright pink candy floss and a deliciously juicy pink grapefruit sorbet.
My stay in North Shields was nothing short of spectacular. I made some wonderful new friends, witnessed amazing performances, and felt completely inspired by this beautiful and vibrant town.
