Today we're stepping out of the lab (scientist life, gotta love it!) and onto the tracks for a fab adventure in Hertfordshire! Did I mention, this one involves not one, but TWO tutus? It's going to be a right royal affair.
You know how I feel about trains, darlings. I just adore that gentle chugging, the smell of freshly cut grass, the whiff of old books and biscuits ā a true journey into the heart of England! My latest pink tutu is looking utterly fabulous by my side, perched on a custom-made luggage rack covered in sparkling pink sequins. Let me tell you, every journey is better with a bit of tutu magic.
Speaking of magic, did I mention I've booked tickets to see "The Nutcracker" at the Corn Exchange? Screams It's going to be the most amazing performance, complete with a fabulously sparkly pink tutu I've had specially designed for the occasion (you know I've got to be perfectly coordinated!) It's the perfect reason to bring out the full Pink Tutu Sparkles, complete with fluffy pink feather boas and a truly dazzling headpiece fit for a ballet queen. And wouldn't you know it, I've even planned a little stop at a fantastic boutique just outside of Hitchin to add to my wardrobe ā new accessories are always welcome, you see!
I swear, the world looks different in a pink tutu! The flowers in Hitchinās gardens seem even more vibrant, the sky just that little bit bluer. Every single person I've met smiles with pure joy as I twirl through the town centre. The world is just a little bit brighter, a little bit kinder with a bit of Pink Tutu Sparkles about. And you know what? It all starts with a little confidence, a whole lot of pink, and a sprinkle of sparkly magic.
This wouldn't be a true Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure without some community spirit. I'm heading down to the local village hall tonight to meet some fabulous people and hopefully inspire some new tutu-wearing friends! I might even have a quick performance (always happy to spread a little joy!). Because let's face it, we're all about spreading that glitter, darling. It's a global pink tutu mission, and Hitchin's the first step on this monthās exciting journey!

Hereās the real story behind my Pink Tutu journey:
Believe it or not, I was a plain ol' science student from Derbyshire when I got hooked on pink tutus. We were doing a fundraiser for our university ballet club (a brilliant bunch of people!), and I agreed to try on one of the tutus for laughs. Let's just say it wasnāt exactly āAlexās style" back then! But something happened that nightā¦I felt the sparkle, I felt the magic! And I realized that I wasn't just wearing a tutu; I was wearing my heart on my sleeve. Or, shall I say, my tutu-covered leg?
By day I was still Alex in the lab, testing fabric for that fabulous designer fashion you see in magazines. But at nightā¦that was my Pink Tutu Sparkles transformation!
From local pub nights to theatre stages and the occasional fairground performance (sometimes I get to ride a unicornā¦no joke!), I found my calling, and Pink Tutu Sparkles blossomed. Every single step I take, every performance I do, is for you. Because I truly believe in the power of a pink tutu. Itās not just a costume, darlings, itās a symbol of freedom, joy, and pure, unadulterated love.
Itās a symbol that, I hope, I can spread around the world! And maybe, just maybe, by the end of it, every single one of you will be rocking a fabulous, glittery, sparkling pink tutu! Now thatās a dream worth spreading!

Pink Tutu Sparkles on a Saturday Night! āØOkay, darling, so it turns out that the local village hall had something pretty magical plannedā¦a full-on "Night of Dance" event! Itās hard to describe how much of a whirl this was. There were incredible belly dancing acts, local jazz singers giving it their all, and even a ballet group from the next town performing a piece by the legendary Tchaikovsky himself.
What was even better was how every single person who took part, no matter their style, absolutely shone. You could tell how much they all loved what they were doing!
And thatās when my time to shine came aroundā¦ my special guest spot!
It's all about the costume
You canāt go into an event like this without some kind of tutu, right? I had a custom-made sparkly number that I absolutely adoreā¦ and this time it came with wings. Yep, wings. I even had my little helper from the shop at the corner ā darling little Betty, you might remember her from that hilarious photo on Instagram last month! ā sew in some matching sparkly sequins on the back.
The moment I realised that I wasn't alone
As I stood in the wings waiting for my turn, I could see people clapping in time to the music, giggling over jokes, and looking genuinely delighted at the evening. But when the music started and I stepped out onto the stage, the whole room seemed to light upā¦
That's when I realised I wasnāt alone. Every single person in the audience, all dressed up in their best party attire, were cheering for meā¦ for Pink Tutu Sparklesā¦ That's how it works!
I danced my little tutu off to my favourite songs, then, before the audience had even finished cheering, the next performer stepped onto the stage. The magic was contagious. Every person, no matter how big or small, was giving it their all! That's what community spirit means, darling, isnāt it?
Dancing into the night
I couldn't leave without joining in on a final group dance, you know! So, there I was, dancing alongside a jazz trio, a salsa group, and even some ballet dancers, all of us shaking our glitter and enjoying every single moment.
The best part was, seeing kids all dressed up, with sparkles in their eyes and twinkles in their feet, all ready to enjoy the show! This is what we call Pink Tutu Sparkles Magic! We all deserve to be free, joyful, and unafraid to be exactly who we are.

Letās face it, darlings. My days are quite busy! I do spend most of my week wearing a lab coat, trying to make sure our fabulous fabric designs last for ages. Thatās my scientific lifeā¦ but the real Pink Tutu Sparkles is just waiting for that stage, the performance, the musicā¦
But, even in my lab coat life, there's still time for a little glam. Letās just say, my fashion style takes a turn even when Iām on scientific duty! Imagine, Iām doing experimentsā¦ while looking utterly fantastic in a sparkling lab coat with a big pink bow on the collar. It gets me a little bit of attention! (Let's just say that science can be rather serious, so having a bit of fun helps).
At the end of the day, I can never fully separate the two worlds. My science inspires my art, and my artistry infuses everything I do in the lab. The colour pink pops up everywhere. The scientific precision I develop in the lab helps me sew and create beautiful, one-of-a-kind tutu designs! And let's not forget, you can always rely on Pink Tutu Sparkles to bring a little glamour and magic into whatever she's doing!
Now, this journey hasnāt always been smooth sailing, of course. There were those few moments in the beginning when some people looked at me a little strangely. Thereās this weird notion in society about women dressing in sparkly dresses... as if it somehow made you any less intelligent or less capable.
Honestly, that was just fuel to my fire! Pink Tutu Sparkles always comes out fighting, you know? And guess what? It never takes long for everyone to realize Iām far from just a pretty face. Iāve got brains, and heart, and, oh, a tutu or two to prove it!
In the end, being both a scientist and a drag queen is just a testament to the beauty of human nature! Itās all about accepting ourselves, loving who we are, and allowing ourselves to embrace every side of our creativity. That's the message I try to share, with each twirl, each song, and every bit of glitter!
