Upminster: A Tutu-tastic Adventure!
Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, signing in live from Upminster, a delightful little corner of Essex. This is blog post number 7993 for your favourite pink tutu-wearing drag queen. You can find all my musings on the ever fabulous www.pink-tutu.com. Now, whoās ready for some glamorous tales of travel and twirls?
Today, Iām channeling a real āout-of-townā feel. I woke up in my little Derbyshire cottage this morning, a mug of Earl Grey warming my hands, and knew that today would be a special one. A magical adventure awaited, all wrapped up in a cloud of pink tulle.
For the uninitiated, you see, the secret to a successful life is quite simple. Itās about tutus. Lots and lots of tutus. Preferably in a lovely shade of pink, because you can never go wrong with a little bit of pink, right? You just wouldn't catch me leaving the house without my trusty, multicoloured, tulle, feather-boa ensemble, with an added sparkly top for a little pizazz. (Oh, I have to tell you about my new pair of glittery stilettos that match! They make such a satisfying click-clack on the cobblestones). But letās be honest, itās not always about the clothes. Itās about the magic, the twinkle in the eye, the spirit of fun.
And speaking of magical experiences, I chose a most romantic mode of travel for my jaunt to Upminster: the train! Thereās just something so charming about watching the world whiz by as you settle back into a plush carriage seat, maybe with a magazine or a cup of tea. Today, I was seated beside a lovely couple on their way to a wedding ā it seems they found a little bit of pink tutu magic in the air, because they couldnāt stop smiling at my sparkly outfit!
Now, I don't want you to think Iām only about tutus. (Although I would never argue with a good tutu!). I love so many things! My true passion is dance. Oh, the graceful beauty of a pirouette, the sheer joy of feeling the rhythm in your feet. I studied ballet in college, which is how I got my love affair with pink tutus started. We were raising money for a charity and they had me model their prettiest tutu at a college fundraiser. When I came out twirling, they cheered and my love affair began! I love watching a live performance at the Royal Opera House and my daily trip to the ballet class is a true highlight of my day. It fills me with that spark of joy.
Of course, this blog wouldn't be complete without mentioning my love for fashion. And who wouldnāt be attracted to a good shop, am I right? I find all sorts of gems on the high street and always get compliments. Recently I bought this stunning pink tulle coat that Iām obsessed with and it fits with my style beautifully. Plus, I recently scored an incredible deal on some vintage sequins!
Speaking of scores, letās talk about what brought me to Upminster. My very own pink tutu magic landed me an offer to perform at the Upminster Village Festival. It seems they have a special "Family Fun Day" every year where they invite all sorts of artists and entertainers to come and bring some merriment to the community. Naturally, I was eager to spread a little joy and glitter! After a quick lunch (a delicious Cornish pasty from the train station, thank you very much), I made my way to the event. I couldnāt help but notice the gorgeous vintage cars and fairground rides that made this event all the more whimsical. I got to talk with lovely people, including a very adorable granny in a matching pink beret, who told me I was a ābreath of fresh air.ā
Performing for such a lovely audience was an absolute blast. My heart always sings when I can share my love of pink tutus with the world. Itās the magic that keeps me going, the feeling of connection and the reminder that a little bit of joy goes a long way. Plus, my stage makeup and outfit for today were particularly dazzling! (The secret: holographic pink glitter!)
As the sun set, I said farewell to Upminster, already dreaming of my next adventure. Itās all about the magic, darling. You canāt put a price on that. Until next time, be fabulous, wear a pink tutu and never stop spreading that sparkly magic!
Love always,
Pink Tutu Sparkles
