York: A Tutu-tiful Time! 🩰💖

*Hello lovelies! It’s your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and I’m so excited to be back with you today for blog post number 8032! Today, we’re heading north to the historic city of York for a tutu-tastic adventure. *

I’m a firm believer that a little bit of pink sparkle can brighten even the cloudiest day, and let’s face it, this past year has been a bit of a rollercoaster! So what better way to kick off the festive season than with a weekend filled with twinkling lights, festive cheer, and (of course) tutus?

York was calling, and my trusty train ticket was booked and ready. I love taking the train - it's such a relaxing way to travel and get lost in a good book or chat with fellow tutu enthusiasts (who doesn’t love a good tutufull discussion, am I right?). As my train pulled into the station, the historic city revealed itself, a glorious mix of ancient architecture and festive merriment.

First on my agenda, I had to see the magnificent York Minster. It's an incredible piece of architecture - massive and imposing but incredibly beautiful. I spent a good hour wandering around, snapping pics for my Insta (don’t forget to follow me at @pinktutuspangles!)

Then, it was time for some retail therapy! York is a haven for independent shops, so I had a ball trying on the most amazing vintage clothes in Shambles, a charming cobbled street full of little boutiques. Naturally, I couldn't leave without a few pink gems to add to my collection. After all, every outfit needs a touch of pink magic!

Speaking of pink magic, I just had to pop in to "Tutus & Tiaras", a little shop tucked away in a corner of York's market. The lady who owns it is just delightful, with an endless passion for dance. It was like stepping into a ballet-lover's dream. I couldn't resist picking up a stunning pink feather boa to add to my performance outfits.

Dinner time meant a delightful experience at “The Lavender Tea Room,” a hidden gem filled with delicate china, beautiful blooms, and oh-so-delicious homemade cakes. My favourite had to be the strawberry and clotted cream slice - so dreamy!

No trip to York is complete without a trip to the stunning Theatre Royal York. It's one of the oldest working theatres in England, and it boasts such incredible history and architectural beauty. While there wasn't a performance that night, I spent a good while just gazing at the grand facade, imagining all the shows that have taken place under its roof.

Ballet and Bubbly

The highlight of my weekend was definitely my trip to the ballet! York’s “Ballet on the River” has become a local legend. I just adore seeing dancers of all levels performing outside - the riverside location adds to the magic. It was a captivating performance, filled with twirling tutus, beautiful dancers, and such amazing choreography.

Afterward, we popped to the nearby riverside pub for a quick pint and a chat about the show with my fellow tutu-lovers. We laughed, we chatted, we enjoyed our drinks, and of course, I had to pull out my boa and twirl!

Time to sparkle

Of course, a weekend in York isn’t complete without seeing the incredible Christmas markets. It was magical – everything glittering, streets alive with music and laughter. I just loved walking through the stalls, spotting all the beautiful handmade trinkets. You could smell the festive air from the warming mulled wine and cinnamon. It’s a definite recommendation for anyone looking to immerse themselves in that traditional Christmas atmosphere.

You can see some of my highlights on my Instagram – a little peek behind the sparkly curtain, I’m so glad you joined me! But honestly, it was a tutu-ful time from beginning to end. I love visiting new places and sharing my love for all things pink, sparkly and tutu-tastic.

Remember, dear friends, wear your tutu with pride and sparkle wherever you go. After all, life is too short for dull moments!
