Watford: Tutu-ific Times! 🩰💖

Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to dazzle you with my latest adventures! This is post number 8061, folks, and I’m feeling oh-so-pink-tastic today, all thanks to a gloriously fabulous trip to Watford! 💖✨

It’s been a while since I last visited this charming town. I was last here in, oh, gosh, checks diary November of 2021 – time really flies when you’re wearing pink tutus, darling! This time around, I wasn’t just stopping by to catch a glimpse of the amazing street art scene, although Watford’s street art really is incredible, you know. No, this time, my reason for visit was purely fabulous. I was in town to perform for the Watford Winter Wonderland, and I absolutely sparkled the night away. 💫

I arrived at the station early – gotta make sure that arrival is absolutely picture-perfect, you know, even if the only “paparazzi” around are pigeons! I strutted my stuff through the station in my sequin-laden, cherry-pink dress – a recent treasure from a lovely boutique in Manchester (and yes, I did make sure to capture the moment on my Insta – hashtag #PinkTutuStyle, #PinkTutuLife – check it out, darling!).

You’ve gotta love the railway – just made for arriving in style! Speaking of style, Watford’s railway station really got the TutuQueen seal of approval. I mean, it’s not all Victorian-style, Gothic arches (don’t get me wrong, those are beautiful!) but has a little bit of that contemporary chic about it too. It's got all those big open spaces where I could really let my outfit flow, and there's something rather charming about watching commuters' reactions as a sparkly Pink Tutu Sparkles sashayed down the platforms, wouldn’t you agree? 🥰

With my hair and makeup impeccably done, I finally reached the Watford Winter Wonderland - a sparkling haven of Christmas delights. It’s the perfect kind of festive chaos that makes you smile – stalls filled with handmade crafts, twinkling lights galore, a merry-go-round spinning like a happy little ballet dancer (oh, you know a ballet dancer twirls on that ride – just like me! 💅) and the most delicious smelling churros stall I’ve ever come across!

I loved strolling through the wonderland in my most fabulously pink tutu, admiring the colourful Christmas displays. Oh, and did I tell you about my gorgeous little pink furry handbag – it really sparkled with all the other wonderland lights! 💖 It was, truly, the perfect place to embrace my pink and festive dreams, but the real magic of Watford was just around the corner.

You see, folks, this wasn’t just a visit to a winter wonderland - I was heading for a gig! Watford’s Winter Wonderland had hired me to entertain the crowds. And, let me tell you, there was nothing better than seeing the sparkle in children’s eyes as they saw a drag queen twirling in a pink tutu - it really was pure magic! 💫✨

As Pink Tutu Sparkles, I always aim to bring my own kind of magic to the stage. For me, drag isn't just about glamour, it's about joy and inclusivity. I've been so lucky to be welcomed into Watford, and the Watford Winter Wonderland felt like the most magical place in the world on that night. You really get to see the true beauty of the season when you get everyone together to have some fun.

Evenings like that remind me of why I started my blog, Pink-tutu.com. It was always about sharing the sparkle of my drag journey and inspiring everyone to wear their hearts (and, if possible, tutus) on their sleeves. You know, just like that Christmas Eve where a little boy who looked about 4 pointed to me, gasped in amazement, and said: "Look Mum, there’s a real, life, pink ballerina!" - now that was a good day, my loves.

And I’ve gotta tell you, my pink TutuQueen days wouldn’t be nearly as spectacular without the fabulous journeys I get to take. What’s more fabulous than a sparkly TutuQueen making her way through the countryside on a vintage horse-drawn carriage? Nothing! And that’s exactly what happened. After my Watford extravaganza, I really wanted to experience all this lovely English countryside - with my Pink Tutu on, of course. And so, a kind soul from the Winter Wonderland offered to give me a spin on their horse and carriage. We went trotting through the snow, my sparkly pink tutu making a fabulously stylish contrast against the winter landscape. Just glorious, folks, glorious! It was like a page ripped straight from my TutuQueen fairytale!

After that beautiful countryside tour, it was back to my life of a science whizz. By day, I’m “Alex”, a scientist who uses his expertise to research fabric (there are lots of similarities between fabric and tutus, trust me on this, my loves). By night, I'm a sparkling Pink Tutu Queen, bringing the magic and joy of drag to the world, one twirl at a time. Sometimes, it all seems a bit too wonderful! 💫

And I’ll say it again, if you want to make the world a more fabulous place, all you gotta do is wear a pink tutu! But not just any tutu. 💅 We've got the TutuQueen Style guide online (click the link in the blog’s 'More’ section) - it’s brimming with the best Pink Tutu tips for your wardrobe.
