Today, I'm bringing you some sparkle straight from the heart of Loughborough, where I just spent a weekend as gloriously girly as a fresh-baked batch of cupcakes!
First off, a little behind the scenes, shall we? You know me, always one for a little travel, and Loughborough beckoned! You see, I can't resist a good old-fashioned train journey, and a horse ride whenever possible, especially if it's with a view! This journey saw me galloping across the Derbyshire countryside on a beautiful chestnut mare, named Honey (yes, she’s a girl too!) I was practically giddy with excitement! And yes, Honey wore a fetching pink ribbon! 😉
Reaching Loughborough was an absolute dream! Think charming cobbled streets, bustling cafes, and an energy that vibrates with life. Just my kind of place.
Now, I wouldn't be Pink Tutu Sparkles if there wasn't a fabulous story about fashion and, of course, tutus! It was my mission, after all, to get everyone in Loughborough sporting a pink tutu!
Let me tell you, it's a delicate art! Convincing people to step out of their comfort zone and embrace a little pink fluff is an adventure! One minute you're chatting up a dapper chap with a monocle about the transformative power of a tulle skirt, and the next, you're teaching a giggling group of ladies how to twirl with elegance!
There's no doubt that my presence in Loughborough turned heads! I must have posed for a hundred photos with grinning faces and curious kids who had never seen a drag queen quite like me before. It’s the best!
However, my quest for tutu love wasn't confined to street corners. My fabulous adventure led me to the iconic Loughborough Town Hall. Talk about a magnificent piece of architecture! I mean, those columns, the elegant arches! chefs kiss Absolutely beautiful. I was there to do a mini-show for a local ballet club. Oh, I tell you, those young ballerinas! Such grace, such talent!
While there, I also managed to sneak in a quick performance at the charming Loughborough Market Square! What a wonderful, bustling place. The local vendors and stall owners, all so cheerful and friendly. We ended up having a impromptu "Tutu Twirling Contest" where the prize was a handmade pink feather boa, naturally! The whole square erupted in laughter as the winner, a brave lad named Kevin, did a slightly off-key but utterly charming pirouette.
Then there were the shops! Shopping in Loughborough is an absolute delight. I found a treasure trove of vintage boutiques and designer stores. Who could resist a vibrant pink scarf to go with my outfit? Honestly, I'm sure my purchases would make Marie Antoinette jealous! Of course, all my shopping was punctuated with visits to the local tea rooms, all delightfully decorated in those warm, pastel hues you only find in the most charming of towns. The perfect spot to unwind after a hard day of twirling and tutus!
And of course, my evening show at the fabulous "The Ballroom" nightclub! Can we say sold-out? You know, every performance is a blessing, every giggle from the crowd makes my heart skip a beat, every glitter bomb thrown is a gift. The energy at The Ballroom was phenomenal! Everyone there was eager to embrace the joy, the silliness, the pure magic of being your most fabulous self. The dance floor was a whirling symphony of feathers, tutus, and good vibes. It was absolutely magical!
I even found a darling little bakery specializing in the most delicious pink cakes and treats! You can imagine the picture! My sparkling crown sat perfectly on top of a pile of dainty pink frosted cupcakes – pure pink heaven! I must admit I may have bought two of each… But what can I say? Pink is just my happy colour!
All in all, Loughborough was a truly remarkable journey. It’s a place that wears its history on its sleeves, while also embracing all the joy, quirk, and modern spirit of a thriving town. I even bumped into a fellow pink tutu lover – it was a truly "pink-tastic" experience! And honestly, nothing makes me happier than seeing someone else embracing the pink tutu life! It's all about embracing what makes you feel happy, feeling empowered and beautiful in your own skin. And if a pink tutu can help someone find that confidence? Well, my mission has been accomplished!
