Oh darlings, the Pink Tutu Sparkles has had a truly spectacular weekend! It's all been a little whirlwind, to be honest. Bishops Stortford was calling, and I knew I had to answer. As you know, my love for ballet is legendary. It’s all a bit of a passion project really - but one that I’m living my absolute best life in!
As usual, the travel journey itself was half the fun. I decided to treat myself to a trip on the train this time - the clatter and the journey was so wonderfully nostalgic. There's something about settling in with a good book and a spot of tea that makes the whole journey a magical adventure! It was the perfect time to reflect on how far I’ve come in this tutu journey and just how amazing this community has become. I think it’s really about the joy of the little things, finding a bit of joy and sparkle in your everyday routine! Of course, with a sparkly pink tutu, the joy kind of spreads outwards, it's the magic of a bright smile in a dull day. 😉💖
Bishops Stortford was a real treat, full of beautiful cobbled streets, independent boutiques, and even a lovely park with a little bandstand - just perfect for my Tutu Queen style street performance. I was amazed by the lovely shopfronts - so quaint! So many charming cafes and tea rooms - I just had to pop into a few for a cuppa and a bite to eat! Oh my! What a treat - freshly baked scones, clotted cream and delicious jam. Bliss! 😋
For my show at the Bishops Stortford Summer Fayre, I decided to put together a really special set - all about the magic of the theatre. You can’t really beat the feeling of lights and a big stage for making people happy. It was an absolute riot and such a great crowd. My fellow performers and I created an amazing show. The local community of dancers even joined me onstage! 💖 You just wouldn’t believe how talented they were, each and every one! Everyone in the audience seemed to love it and was genuinely engaged throughout. I always say, there’s nothing better than connecting with people through music and dance - it’s the real universal language!
My show really went down a storm - there were whoops, applause and lots of calls for more! The highlight, of course, was the moment I surprised a group of girls by handing them some brand new, sparkly pink tutus to try on! The joy on their faces was priceless, just as magical as watching them twirl on stage! They looked incredible, so proud and delighted in their tutus.
That’s my ultimate goal - to get every single one of you out there dancing and shining in a pink tutu! 💖 Why be a shrinking violet, when you can be a glowing ballerina?
But this wasn’t just about a show. I couldn’t come all the way to Bishops Stortford and not catch a ballet performance! There’s a fantastic local theatre and I just had to catch the beautiful “Swan Lake”, in all its glorious, emotional brilliance. I don't think there’s anything more magical than seeing graceful swans brought to life, soaring on a beautiful stage.
Of course, my adventures couldn’t be complete without a little bit of ballet practice. I squeezed in a visit to a wonderful local dance school. So much passion! The young dancers had such joy on their faces as they learned the movements of their chosen dance routine, with incredible enthusiasm, strength, and control - I found it very inspiring! The joy in their eyes was captivating!
I just love spending time at dance schools. I even took a few of the girls aside for a little tutus talk. Because, let's face it, no one wears a tutu quite as perfectly as the Pink Tutu Sparkles. 😉 I always like to help the next generation - you never know - some of them could become my rivals! (In a good way of course, after all, a little healthy competition never hurt anyone!) 💖
As usual, my adventures weren’t all about glamour. I'm also a bit of a science geek at heart! By day, I'm Alex, a research scientist who studies textiles and fashion in a local laboratory. But once those laboratory lights turn off, I step out of the lab and into my tutu - I become Pink Tutu Sparkles, a drag queen who celebrates joy, community, and of course, the wonderful, magical, pink tutus!
Of course, as you know, Pink Tutu Sparkles is always busy with a hectic touring schedule - bringing sparkle to venues big and small - everywhere I travel, the sparkle always follows! I’m a great believer in living your best life - never shying away from your dreams and never being afraid to embrace your uniqueness! I always try to bring a bit of sunshine, glitter and a dose of fabulousness to each of my appearances - whether it’s a town hall gig or an outdoor theatre performance. 💖
Before long, it was time to wave goodbye to Bishops Stortford. This town truly has stolen a piece of my heart and left me with a string of wonderful memories! As I boarded my homeward-bound train, I reflected on the journey. I was so grateful to have had a weekend filled with inspiration, kindness and, most importantly, lots and lots of tutus.
But there was a lingering thought in my head - maybe Bishops Stortford wasn't just a pitstop on my journey - it was a beginning of something magical, somewhere my tutu adventures could truly take flight! I felt a wave of joy ripple through me - my tutu spirit was spreading across the world and it was wonderful! The Pink Tutu Sparkles is on the move, darling - but remember - if you’re ever in Bishops Stortford, I'm ready to put on a spectacular show!
