Bexleyheath: Tutu Travels to the Thames
Post #8211
Hello, darlings! Your favourite pink-tutu-wearing queen is back, and this time, we're heading to the historic and charming town of Bexleyheath!
It's been a while since I've graced these pages with tales of my travels. You see, life as a travelling drag artist can be pretty hectic, what with the costume changes, the makeup sessions, and the countless train journeys (which, I might add, are a wonderful source of inspiration for my next pink tutu creation). But let's face it, I wouldn't trade it for the world! The joy I get from performing and seeing your sparkling faces makes every late night, every early morning train ride, worth it.
And what's more fabulous than travelling in style? This journey was no different. A journey to Bexleyheath would never be complete without a tutu that fits the mood. This time, I opted for a cascading pink tutu, hand-sequined with shimmering silver, that caught the light perfectly as the train pulled out of Derbyshire. Honestly, darling, I felt like a princess heading off on a grand adventure!
Now, let's talk about Bexleyheath. This beautiful town is steeped in history, but it's also brimming with charm and culture. We're talking gorgeous old buildings, vibrant local markets, and enough green spaces to get even the most city-dweller feeling calm.
The reason I came, you ask? Why, it was to bring a touch of Pink Tutu Sparkles to the local ballet club's annual fundraising event. Can you imagine, darlings? It was just a simple charity ballet workshop to raise money for their end-of-year showcase, and somehow, they thought Pink Tutu Sparkles would be the perfect way to add a touch of magic. You're all welcome to think I'm being modest!
We spent the morning in a glorious old hall, the smell of leather and old wood mingled with the sweet aroma of lavender and tea. We were given free reign to be our creative selves with the kids – after a morning session teaching them about movement and confidence in our pink tutus – the adults got to get involved! It was absolute carnage. We did all sorts of things. We danced to the Swan Lake soundtrack, to Beyonce and then to a disco number, I wore four tutus simultaneously – there was something for everyone and the smiles on their faces made it so worth it! We raised enough money to help them replace their well-loved old ballet shoes!
After the workshop, I took a wander around Bexleyheath itself. What a stunning little place. I discovered some absolutely divine boutiques, bursting with quirky clothes and beautiful accessories – perfect for finding inspiration for my next tutu-based fashion ensemble.
Then, my lovely host insisted that we go for afternoon tea. It was everything you’d imagine: perfectly cut sandwiches, tiny little cakes with icing, and a teapot full of the strongest Earl Grey. Oh, the delightful clinking of china cups and the warm feeling of being welcomed by these wonderful people… what’s a queen to do? Well, you can guess, my darlings, I was wearing a little tutu – because I think even afternoon tea needs a touch of tulle.
Now, the evening called for a slightly more glamorous outing. This time, I transformed myself into a glamorous cabaret queen, ready to grace the stage of a local theatre. You know how I love a good old-fashioned theatre show! It really does set the scene for a night of dazzling costumes, sparkling lights, and a touch of playful banter.
This time, it was a drag fundraiser for the Bexleyheath Theatre Group. And who do they ask to be their headlining star? You know who. I went through the whole show with my new Bexleyheath friends who made me the most fabulous crown for the occasion. Now this is a part of life that really brings a smile to my face!
As always, it was an evening filled with joy, laughter, and lots of singing. I even managed to get a few audience members up on stage to show off their best ballet moves! The theatre is so lovely. The walls are red velvet with huge velvet drapes framing the stage and beautiful art deco lights that I swear make the whole place shimmer. I could even imagine my next Pink Tutu collection in it – all sparkly sequins and flowing fabrics. It felt so right being on that stage, a tutu-clad performer sharing a passion for art and fun with the people of Bexleyheath.
So, if you find yourself in this beautiful part of England, be sure to stop by and say hello. Who knows, maybe we’ll even end up dancing together in a pink tutu – after all, I am here to spread the joy and magic of twirling. I mean, what’s better than a little tutu in your life?
Catch you next time, darlings. Keep sparkling!
Yours, in pink tulle, Pink Tutu Sparkles www.pink-tutu.com
