Pink Tutu Sparkles: Newtownards Whirlwind! (Post #8225)

Hello my darling darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, and you won't believe what a fabulous adventure I've just had in the charming town of Newtownards! Honestly, I swear, it was like stepping out of a fairytale – in the best possible way!

I love travelling and my dream is for everyone to own a pink tutu and wear it with pride, because honestly, why not? Tutu power, people!

For this trip, I traded my trusty old hatchback for a vintage horse and carriage. I know, I know – fabulous, right?! It took me a little longer to get to Newtownards than if I'd gone by train, but it was oh so much more magical! Honestly, I think the townspeople stopped what they were doing just to stare – well, let's be honest, the magnificent pink tutu probably had a bit to do with that too. But it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkles trip without a bit of an entrance, wouldn't it?

A Newtownards Rendezvous with History and Grace

First things first – the history! Newtownards has got the whole castle thing going on, which always gets my inner fairytale princess going. Imagine my delight when I discovered they also have the most fabulous little ballet studio hidden away right next door to it! It felt like a fairytale – a little castle with ballet dancers floating about like magical creatures. Of course, I just had to join in! A couple of pirouettes later and my feet were screaming, but it was so worth it! My fabulous little dance partners (a bunch of charming young ladies with the brightest eyes and the cutest little smiles) even made me do some jeté moves - can you believe it? I think the owner of the studio loved having me there. You know what I mean - she kept feeding me cupcakes. My dance partner had told me there'd be free hot chocolate but I was certainly not complaining about the sugar-rush from the cupcakes! It turns out this owner really liked the story of how I ended up with this whole pink tutu obsession – you see, I was a little science geek in uni, with more chemicals and lab coats in my life than sparkly tutus! It all started one night, during a fundraiser for the university ballet club when I found myself in one. There I was, with a bright pink, bouncy tutu on my very non-ballet-dancer body! It was amazing – something clicked, and ever since then, well, the pink tutus never stopped! I'm pretty sure my university tutor wouldn't believe me now - she probably thinks I still work in the lab with the microscope, but little does she know. Every night I'm performing in my own mini-spectacle of light, feathers, sparkles, and my one true love – the pink tutu! I've even started a bit of a pink tutu obsession at work now! Not my real work, you understand. The scientist bit where I spend my day testing fabrics (sometimes even trying to figure out how to get those shimmery textures into them) but it’s getting a little less drab around my bench now… the team’s gotten quite into it – actually they just like pink in general - maybe they’re drawn to the feminine? But you never know! And anyway, we're having loads of fun with it – you wouldn't believe the fabric samples they've been making me try – I just hope they don’t ever start making clothes from all this stuff – there are definitely some strange patterns emerging!

Making Memories & More Cupcakes

My trip wasn’t just about pirouettes, cupcakes and sparkling memories, you know – even a Pink Tutu Queen has got to be responsible sometimes. I had to take the little tour around the Newtownards castle, learn about their local stories and history, you know. And guess what I saw while I was in the courtyard – there, right at the back, by the river, was the cutest little ice cream shop I'd ever seen. It had the most stunning selection of handmade sorbet and ice cream. They've got some incredible flavours I’ve never even heard of, and – honestly, the sorbet, absolutely heavenly! I even learned that this place also makes its own little chocolates, truffles, and things. Talk about an indulgent afternoon! Now, you already know about my love for all things pink, but I swear this little ice cream shop even sold little pink fairy cakes and those were seriously fabulous!

But I'll tell you what else was just fantastic about my trip? You’ll be wanting to visit too after I’m done! I decided I'd explore the little alleys, discover a couple of quirky little tea shops and maybe grab some souvenir shops – just the usual Pink Tutu Sparkles shopping adventure. But here's what made this trip magical – the local artists. You see, as well as some very talented chocolatiers, Newtownards is bursting with so much creative talent! I popped into some galleries (which really were fantastic by the way) and met a whole heap of lovely artists and even bumped into one lovely chap who does theatre sets – he's going to help me out with my next show!

Newtownards – A New Sparkles for my Storybook

So here's my conclusion: Newtownards – a truly enchanting little place! The mix of historical charm, creative vibes and sweet treats made it truly delightful. Honestly, a magical place to visit if you’re searching for something a little different. And if you get there, do yourself a favour, try the pink fairy cakes – and a big pink tutu, well, that's a must!

Now if you'll excuse me – it's time to dust off my sequins and work on my next pink tutu project – and remember, even if you don't want to wear one, let me know if you'd like one – because honestly, we can all do with a little extra sparkle, and what could be more fabulously fun than sparkling pink tutus?!

Until next time! Keep those smiles sparkling!

XOXO
