Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, bringing you blog post number 8226, straight from the cobbled streets of Kendal. This weekend, I’ve been frolicking through the festival fields of Kendal Calling, surrounded by music, laughter, and… you guessed it… PINK TUTUS!
The Tutu Travels
This time, the journey itself was as magical as the destination. It's always a delightful adventure, leaving the Derbyshire lab behind to embrace my glamorous alter ego. I bid farewell to beakers and bunsen burners, opting for a steamy train ride through the rolling English countryside, fuelled by nothing but sugar-laced coffee and excitement.
The moment the train pulled into Kendal, I could feel the magic of the festival in the air. I can’t deny it, I do love a bit of train travel. The gentle rhythm of the tracks, the breathtaking scenery whizzing past my window, the sheer joy of not having to worry about the satnav! Of course, no travel is complete without the proper Pink Tutu Sparkles attire, and today, that meant a candy-floss pink tutu, perfectly complemented by a vintage lace top, sparkling platform heels, and, naturally, my trusty pink feathered boa.
Kendal Calling: A Feast for the Senses
Kendal Calling is known for its vibrant music scene and diverse line-up, and this year, they’ve outdone themselves! From indie rock anthems to soulful acoustic melodies, it was a veritable musical smorgasbord. The highlight of my weekend was undoubtedly seeing insert your favourite artist from the Kendal Calling line up, they really delivered an electric performance.
But let’s be real, Kendal Calling is more than just about music. It's a kaleidoscope of colours, cultures, and quirky characters. The vibrant atmosphere was infectious, everyone was dressed to the nines, it truly was a visual treat. From brightly coloured dreadlocks to daringly elaborate face paint, everyone was embracing their individuality, and, of course, I was in my element, surrounded by a rainbow of outfits!
The Tutu Takeover
And speaking of outfits, you know Pink Tutu Sparkles doesn't shy away from a fashion challenge. Kendal Calling provided the perfect opportunity to showcase my signature style. Imagine a whimsical tutu ballet dancer mixed with a rock ‘n’ roll punk princess and that’s Pink Tutu Sparkles, at least this weekend! I took full advantage of the open space to unleash my inner performer, twirling, prancing, and showing off my fabulous, twirly skirt, to a cheering crowd!
My mission, darling, is to inspire others to embrace the pink tutu magic, and it certainly seemed like Kendal Calling was ready for a pink revolution! The festival-goers were warm and welcoming, and my pink tutu act went down a storm. I had so much fun dancing and posing with festival-goers, each photo shoot a joyous, joyous, Tutu Time experience! It wasn’t just the festival-goers getting involved, even a few local vendors at the fair started getting into the spirit! One stall owner let me borrow their fabulous giant pink inflatable unicorn – I think that will be my new signature prop.
Balancing Beakers & Boa Feathers
Balancing a glamorous, fast-paced drag life with my day job as a science lab specialist isn’t easy. You wouldn’t believe the looks I get sometimes when I roll into the lab, still wearing last night's glittery eye shadow! I always make a point to start my day early. If the commute doesn't kill you, it is worth the fresh air for that hour long stroll to the lab, that way I can squeeze in a quick, private pre-work makeup session in my dressing room at the station, so by the time I hit the lab I’m all scientist but I’m always, always ready for tutu-tastic action! I do sometimes envy the simple, calm routines of my fellow scientists but the moment the spotlights hit, the energy is exhilarating!
The Power of Pink
I can't help but believe that wearing pink is empowering! For me, it represents embracing your unique individuality, celebrating the fun side of life, and being unapologetically yourself! So don’t be afraid to wear the colour, it might just set your soul alight, and while you’re at it, let’s all put a little pink sparkle back into the world, shall we?
