The air is abuzz with excitement here in Wellington, New Zealand, as I embark on another fabulous adventure. Just picture it, darlings: a sprawling, seaside city with the bluest of skies, fresh ocean breezes whispering through the palm trees, and a heart full of that joyful Kiwi energy that always fills me to the brim with inspiration. But for me, Wellington is all about the theatre and the beautiful ballet. I’m here, not just to revel in the beauty of this incredible city but to finally grace the stage myself at the iconic Wellington Opera House, wearing nothing less than my very best, sparkling pink tutu, of course!
Now, you lovely lot know that travelling is in my veins! But how did I get here to Wellington you ask? Well, you'll never guess, but I travelled in style, darling, by horseback! It was an incredible journey, with the sun beaming down, birds singing all around, and the wind playing with my sparkly pink tutu as I rode, it was absolutely divine! And if you’re wondering, I did manage to pack all my sparkly dresses, feather boas, and, of course, several backup pink tutus. The journey took two full days but was completely worth it!
Just imagine me, a shimmering pink tutu princess on horseback, galloping across vast meadows with mountains and hills in the distance. Now that’s a postcard-worthy moment if ever there was one! 😉
And then there was the little trip on the train – first-class, naturally. It was all so chic and glamorous! You see, my dears, I do love travelling with an old-fashioned flair! And this adventure truly tickled my fancy from start to finish. I indulged in tea and scones with a scone so big you could wear it as a hat, and devoured my favorite chicken pot pie – a total comfort food that takes me straight back to my childhood. It’s funny how even the simple things like food can make a trip so special.
Now, you all know I love a good frock, and believe me, I haven’t been neglecting my wardrobe while on this fabulous adventure! You see, I’m a big believer in packing for every occasion – you never know what wonderful opportunity may arise. Wellington is full of gorgeous boutiques and charming vintage shops that I couldn't wait to explore.
Imagine, a pink feather boa here, a stunning sequin top there, and don't even get me started on the headpieces. My Wellington collection is positively overflowing with amazing new treasures that I just can’t wait to wear! Oh, and I found this unbelievable vintage handbag adorned with glittering pink sequins! It is so stunningly vintage, it would make even Queen Victoria herself blush! Of course, I just had to scoop it up to add to my collection of glamorous trinkets.
Now, the other thing that absolutely delights me is that my darling friends here in Wellington have the same tutu-wearing love as I do. They told me about this incredible ballet festival happening soon. We’re going to wear all our best tutus – sparkly, frilly, flowy, you name it! The entire city is buzzing with ballet performances, and I’m planning to catch as many shows as I possibly can! The vibrant atmosphere is electrifying, and the grace and elegance of the ballerinas in their breathtaking tutus inspires me every day! I'm thinking of taking a class myself – it’s never too late to learn a pirouette or two!
I do so hope I inspire you lovely people to pick out your pink tutus too! Life is too short to not have a little sparkle and joy in your wardrobe! Let your inner ballerina shine, I say! Even my dear mother, bless her heart, is now sporting a pale pink, tulle tutu and I am so proud of her. Even scientists like my brother can join in the fun too! You can find beautiful pastel pink, flowy tutu-inspired skirts, perfect for every occasion, in even the most unlikely of places!
The main reason I’m in Wellington is to put on my very first cabaret performance in a legendary cabaret theatre. Oh my, it’s a real treat for me! But you see, being a performing artist, darlings, isn’t just about wearing a sparkling pink tutu, it’s about the stories behind each outfit!
Every outfit, each performance has a story to tell, every performance tells a different story. And mine are always pink, sparkling and twirling, a kaleidoscope of glitter and happiness for everyone! That’s what makes being Pink Tutu Sparkles, and being Alex, so wonderful! It’s my little way of spreading a bit of pink happiness across the world, one twirl at a time!
The theatre, the people here in Wellington are amazing. There are so many stories to discover here, so much art to explore. This place truly sings with vibrant energy, it’s a world of sparkling glamour that I can’t wait to explore! And of course, no visit to Wellington would be complete without enjoying the freshest seafood imaginable.
And what’s the most important thing for me? Well, you all know it by now. Always spread joy and a sprinkle of glitter, dear ones. It’s what makes life more magical, more delicious, more beautiful, more spectacular!
