This is post number 8360, can you believe it? Every single day, I bring you the glitziest, most fabulous adventures from my life as a tutu-obsessed drag queen, and today, I'm sharing a journey to a charming town nestled in the heart of South London.
Now, I know what you're thinking: "Mitcham? Why Mitcham, darling?" Well, I'm a firm believer in discovering the magic in every corner of the world. You see, I’m a scientist by day – you know, testing fabrics and stuff – and I find beauty in the ordinary. It’s all about perspective, honey! I also believe a pink tutu can turn any ordinary moment into a sparkling spectacle.
This trip was all about embracing the "off-the-beaten-track" glamour. I travelled in style, naturally. Did I take the Tube? Nah, darling, this queen arrived in Mitcham in grand fashion – a gloriously old-fashioned horse-drawn carriage, courtesy of the charming folks at the local stable. A bit of a change from my usual mode of transportation: trains. But I love to switch it up and discover new ways to arrive in fabulous fashion.
Speaking of fashion, I have to gush about my ensemble. Naturally, a pink tutu was the cornerstone, but this time, it was a symphony of layers – a sheer tulle confection in a glorious baby pink that matched my custom-designed corset, all adorned with a sprinkle of glitter that practically shimmered like a disco ball in the afternoon sun. My heels were a towering masterpiece – they had to be, don't you think? The matching pink feather boa was a stroke of genius – if I say so myself. It’s all about the details, darlings.
So, what brought me to Mitcham? You guessed it, a ballet performance! I simply adore seeing ballet live, whether it's in a grand theatre or a local community hall – it’s truly an art form that fills my soul with pure joy. Mitcham surprised me with a delightful community theatre group performing “Swan Lake”, the most elegant ballet masterpiece of all.
The Mitcham community hall itself was a marvel! A true throwback, full of character. The air crackled with excitement, a palpable anticipation for the show to begin. The dancers were incredibly talented and it truly moved me.
I knew I had to take this opportunity to share the joy of ballet with the audience. So, as the dancers took their bows, I strutted out onto the stage, shimmering like a human disco ball. I'd prepared a short, playful dance routine with some pirouettes and dramatic dips (who needs a partner, anyway?), to the iconic tune of “Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.”
The crowd erupted in cheers. People rushed to grab selfies with me. There’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing the spark in their eyes as I bring my joy to others! Honestly, the energy in that community hall was so heartwarming. I felt like I’d become an honorary Mitchamite for the day!
