Newbury Calling! Pink Tutu Sparkles Takes to the Stage

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and today's blog post is extra special. It's Post number 8424, can you believe it? That's almost nine thousand times I've shared my passion for all things pink and twirly with you lovely lot! And guess what? Today I'm sharing the adventures of a recent trip to Newbury, a delightful town in Berkshire, perfect for a queen like me!

This journey started in a very elegant fashion, you know, all aboard the "Swallowtail Express." I just love the romanticism of train travel, the rhythmic clinking of the wheels and the chance to take in the beautiful English countryside whizzing past my window. It’s truly magical!

Speaking of magical, did you know that my whole life took a magical turn thanks to a tutu? Yup, a pink one! Back when I was still Alex, just a science student in Derbyshire with a secret love for dance, a local charity had a fundraiser. They put on a tutu-wearing contest and you know, there's just something about that feeling of billowing tulle that makes any heart soar. I ended up taking home the "Most Enchanting" award, a cute little tiara and a spark of something extraordinary. A little while after that, the idea of Pink Tutu Sparkles was born, and let me tell you, there hasn't been a dull moment since!

Newbury welcomed me with open arms and a truly vibrant scene. This town has an old-fashioned charm about it, and I’m always up for a bit of historical romance. Picture this: Cobblestone streets lined with quaint shops selling the most delightful trinkets and little cafés where you can sit and watch the world go by, sipping on a pink latte, naturally! (Who can resist a bit of pink in their daily caffeine fix?).

But this trip wasn’t all about window shopping. It was a night of high-energy, high-drama, and HIGH-FLYING sequins, because I was on a mission to grace Newbury's beautiful stage. You know me, a stage is my home, a platform to spread glitter and twirls wherever I go! The performance at the [Insert name of Newbury Venue] was simply electric! The crowd was so warm and inviting, they truly made me feel like a true superstar!

Newbury holds a special place in my heart now, not just because of its charm, but also for the wonderful ballet company I had the opportunity to visit. "The Newbury Dance Academy," they called it. It's nestled in a historic building with high ceilings, and that wonderful sense of grandeur. Seeing young, talented dancers practicing their plies, with that twinkle of passion in their eyes - it's an experience that warms my soul. They were such a kind, inspiring group, and I even got to join in a short ballet session!

But let me tell you, even a seasoned tutu queen can get a bit stiff after a night of high-kicking! I treated myself to a fabulous brunch the following morning, complete with mimosas (pink of course) and a selection of fluffy, fluffy pancakes! Oh, did I mention Newbury has some truly exceptional cafes and bakeries?

Speaking of indulgence, there is one place in Newbury you have to check out - “The Millinery Mermaid" boutique. Honestly, this little shop is a paradise for anyone who loves beautiful, statement pieces, hats and bonnets being their speciality! I couldn’t resist trying on a few feathered hats, a glorious turquoise beret with a plume, and even a gorgeous silver top hat! You know me, never one to say no to a bit of a fancy headpiece!

And of course, no Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure is complete without a spot of shopping. I went crazy for colourful fabrics at “The Thread and Needle” craft shop, picked up a few stunning silk scarves (think: rose pink, lilac, baby blue – you know my style!), and bought a new pair of ballet flats in the prettiest pastel blue. Oh, did I mention I always travel with a couple of pairs of spare ballet shoes? You never know when you’ll find a perfect place for a twirl!

I truly adore the energy and joy that this town exudes. Maybe it’s the way the people here embrace life’s simple pleasures – the delicious afternoon tea served at a tea room with stained glass windows, the sound of laughter spilling out of a pub, the beauty of nature surrounding this charming little town. Whatever it is, Newbury is a town I can truly imagine myself getting lost in!

But the most important thing I've learned during this trip is this: A little bit of sparkle and twirling goes a long way! Everyone loves a bit of sparkle in their life, right? You don’t need to be a professional dancer to twirl in a tutu. Embrace the inner-dancer in all of you! The world is waiting to see you shine, so let your flag fly!

Love you all,

Pink Tutu Sparkles!
