Helloooo my lovely little darlings! 💖 It's your Pink Tutu Queen here, and I'm so excited to be posting from Whitley Bay! This is blog post number 8447, and believe me, it's a doozy!
Whitley Bay is just delightful - it’s like stepping back in time! So much seaside charm, with its iconic pier, the sweet smell of candy floss, and those delicious chips you can smell wafting from the local fish and chip shops. My inner child was in absolute heaven!
I made my way up here by train, you see. I'm such a train-lover! I adore the rhythmic clickety-clack of the wheels and the views flashing past the window. This time, though, it was even more magical because I got to sit next to a delightful young couple on their honeymoon, who just couldn't get over my outfit! Of course, I was resplendent in a new pink tutu, specially chosen for this occasion. A vintage-style tiered tulle with the most sparkly pink sequins imaginable. You know how much I love a little bit of glitz and glam!
And as for my accommodation? Well, I have to say, this is a little bit different than usual! Instead of the usual glam hotel, I found myself at a quaint bed and breakfast. Not fancy, darling, but absolutely charming! There was even a miniature rocking horse in the corner of the sitting room, so cute I couldn't resist taking a selfie with it, tutu and all.
The highlight of my visit was a delightful little theatre performance, with the most dazzling cast! Imagine, darling, all the world's a stage, and we are but mere players - and I’m living my very best, glittery play! I was entranced by their performances, filled with so much energy and artistry, and I must admit, I took more than a few fashion tips for my own stage act.
But it's not just about the theatre! You see, I couldn’t come to a seaside town like Whitley Bay without venturing out onto that glorious pier! Oh my, the waves! The smell of salty air! The gentle, hypnotic rhythm of the waves lapping against the wooden slats, it just drew me in.
I felt utterly inspired. You know how much I love all things pink, sparkly and twirling? This was it, darling! This is the inspiration for my next performance. A pink-tutu filled with seaside whimsy!
And what’s more, there’s this tiny little ballet studio just off the pier! I popped in to do a spot of ballet on the floor (after some lovely warming up of course). There is nothing that compares to feeling the music course through you as you move - pure magic, my darlings! It’s something I could lose myself in for hours.
Of course, I couldn’t leave Whitley Bay without a shopping spree! I found the most exquisite little shop brimming with unique clothes and vintage treasures. There was a pink chiffon scarf that sang my name! You’ll just have to wait until my next performance for a full reveal of that beauty!
As I sat on the train, looking out of the window at the vast open countryside rushing past, I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed with joy. This was what it was all about!
Life is for sharing, my dears. Don’t forget, my beautiful babes, you don’t have to be a drag queen to feel that joy. My advice? Slip on a pink tutu, put on your favourite sparkly shoes and just go for it!

The pink tutu journey:
So how did I end up here, my darling dears? The world of sequins and feathers was once as far away as Jupiter for a certain scientist in Derbyshire, working his way through the world of fabrics. Well, you wouldn't believe this... I got hooked on pink tutus at university, of all places! My degree was science-based (not quite as exciting as you'd think) but I did belong to the university ballet club and was volunteering for a charity event where I was, dare I say, cajoled into wearing a pink tutu. And then... something clicked! It felt like magic! Like a fairytale come to life!
It was exhilarating, and there was this immediate understanding, this deep connection I felt to the lightness, the freedom of it, the way it made me feel utterly beautiful! It's like a fluffy pink cloud of pure joy, ready to transport you to another dimension. Honestly, there's nothing quite like it, and once you experience it, my darlings, it changes your whole outlook on life.
By day, I was Alex, meticulously testing fabric blends in a lab - essential, practical, vital to modern life... yes, I knew. But, it felt so drab, so monotonous! There was something about it that, dare I say, dampened my spirit!
Then, came the nights. I would arrive at a club, fair, bar or restaurant and reveal my alter ego - the flamboyant, glittering, effervescent Pink Tutu Sparkles.
I started my blog because I knew there had to be more people out there who felt the magic of pink tutus and could benefit from a little more whimsy and glitter in their lives! You see, my darlings, pink tutus can do so much more than simply look incredible. They inspire. They uplift. They encourage a little more fun and sparkle in our otherwise busy and complicated lives!
That’s my goal, my darlings, to bring a little magic into your world, one pink tutu at a time. And guess what? My blog has become my passion.
