Newtownards: Tutu Time! 🩰
Hello darlings!
Pink Tutu Sparkles here, bringing you my #8483 post from the beautiful, historic town of Newtownards in Northern Ireland! It’s been a whirlwind tour so far, filled with charm, culture, and – of course – lots of pink.
You know, travelling as a drag queen is quite a trip. It’s a journey that requires a healthy dose of glitter, an overflowing suitcase of outrageous outfits, and an unflinching confidence that only a truly glamorous soul can possess! But for me, it’s not just about the sparkly exterior; it’s about the experiences, the connections, and spreading the magic of tutus wherever I go.
I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was to set foot in Newtownards. It’s known for its beautiful architecture, particularly the 17th-century castle, which is practically dripping in history. The air is alive with stories, whispers of a vibrant past echoing through the cobbled streets. It was like stepping onto the set of a Jane Austen novel, with a sprinkle of magic thrown in for good measure.
My journey began as it usually does – in a flurry of pink and sparkles! This time, I had opted for my “Hot Pink Flamingo” tutu ensemble, complete with feathered boa and dazzling rhinestone headpiece. There's something about the colour pink, wouldn't you agree? It just radiates happiness and good vibes! And let's not forget those tutus! I can’t imagine my life without them. They're a symbol of fun, of whimsical freedom, of celebrating your inner ballerina. I truly believe that every single person has a secret desire to twirl around in a fluffy pink tutu at least once in their life!
I hopped aboard the train in my most vibrant outfit. I have to say, I do love a good train journey. It allows me to sit back, relax, admire the passing scenery, and soak up the atmosphere of the journey. I especially love those older train carriages with their high ceilings and large windows. It’s like stepping back in time, yet with a touch of luxurious whimsy. Plus, it’s always a fun adventure for people to see my pink tulle trailing behind me as I waltz through the aisles!
Newtownards welcomed me with open arms! The locals were a delight, full of warmth and friendly smiles. They couldn’t get enough of my outfit and enthusiastically cheered for me during my performances at the local pub, which had an unexpectedly large and very lively dance floor! It's remarkable the amount of enthusiasm there is for a girl in a pink tutu! And don't even get me started on the applause after I executed my "Grande Jeté" across the dance floor! Oh, the memories.
One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the town's impressive art gallery, full of fascinating local artists, and the local theatre. You just know I had to see their latest production! It was a modern take on “The Nutcracker”, and it was amazing. You wouldn’t believe it, but the lead ballerina even used some pink tutus in her choreography. A bit of inspiration for us all, perhaps!
Newtownards truly felt like a community that values arts and culture, and I’m sure that everyone would agree – there's something incredibly special about it.
Then there was the food! From freshly-baked scones to creamy, locally sourced ice cream, my taste buds were treated to a real feast. I simply had to sample a famous “Newtownards Fry,” – basically an Ulster breakfast with some local specialities. It was incredible, with fresh local sausages, potato bread, soda bread, fried egg, potato farl, mushrooms and all sorts of tasty surprises. My new rule is - wherever I go, I must try the local dishes!
For those who know me, you know I adore a spot of ballet. Luckily for me, there was a wonderful ballet studio right on my doorstep in Newtownards! What better opportunity to have a good ol'fashioned practice session? The ballet class I attended was absolutely fantastic. I got to share my love of the art form with some wonderful, friendly local dancers!
For the final part of my stay, I ventured into the picturesque surrounding countryside! I opted for a leisurely horse ride – a delightful way to take in the fresh air, and admire the countryside at a slower pace. A little bit of countryside life mixed in with the town is a sure way to find peace and happiness in life, don’t you think?
Overall, my journey to Newtownards was filled with warmth, inspiration, and the unwavering magic of pink tutus. I have a real fondness for the town now. It has such a unique character that can be felt in every corner – the kind of character that leaves a lasting impression, especially on a tutu-clad queen like myself.
I’m already dreaming of my next trip and who knows where I’ll find myself – whether in a glamorous London ballroom or amidst the quaint charm of a small Derbyshire village, you can bet that a Pink Tutu will be leading the way!
Don’t forget to check in tomorrow, darlings, as I take you with me on my next adventures! And don’t be afraid to embrace your inner sparkle and wear a pink tutu for the world to see! It's the little things that make life a dance!
Lots of love,
Pink Tutu Sparkles
