Kendal Calling: Tutu Travels #8484

Oh my darlings, I'm back with another fab post, this time from the picturesque Lake District! I just couldn't resist venturing up north, even with my suitcase overflowing with pink tulle and glitter.

You see, dear readers, I live for those magical moments when the world around me just screams, "Pink Tutu Sparkles, this is for you!" And Kendal Calling - oh my, was it ever calling! With a weekend full of music, laughter, and the most spectacular views you could imagine, I knew this trip was going to be a whirlwind of joy.

This whole adventure started, like most of my fabulous trips, with a dash of whimsy and a lot of sparkly dreams. As you know, I have this undying passion for pink tutus - they just embody a certain kind of whimsical, flamboyant magic that I adore. And let's face it, life's just a bit more fun with a pink tutu. πŸ˜‰

So, imagine my delight when I stumbled upon the Kendal Calling Festival line-up - a mix of music, theatre, art, and family fun. It just called out to me. I mean, can you think of a better place for a pink tutu wearing, music-loving, and glitter-obsessed drag queen like myself? The answer is a resounding "Nope!"

Now, my dear friends, if you know me, you know my heart is forever smitten with the enchanting world of ballet. The grace, the artistry, the ethereal costumes - it all just speaks to my inner whimsical soul.

I started the journey with a little detour to my favourite local shop, a vintage emporium nestled in the heart of Derbyshire. It's a treasure trove of shimmering fabrics, quirky finds, and, of course, an abundance of pink. And guess what? I found the most glorious vintage sequined shrug to add to my ensemble for the trip! It shimmered under the soft evening sunlight, reminding me that even the most mundane trips can be made magical with the right touch of flair.

With my outfit complete (don't even get me started on the delightful matching pink boots I unearthed), I set off to Kendal with a heart full of excitement and a suitcase overflowing with pink tulle dreams. I opted for the train, you see, there's something so romantic about train journeys - the rhythmic clatter of the wheels, the fleeting landscapes rushing by, and the chance to soak in the sights and sounds of a journey, rather than being trapped in a car. It allows your imagination to wander, much like a twirling pink tutu on the stage.

Now, I've got to tell you, the moment I stepped off the train and into the fresh mountain air of the Lake District, my inner pink-tutu-loving, theatre-obsessed self just knew this was going to be epic. The scent of fresh pine and heather, the gentle breeze whispering through the fields, and the breathtaking panoramic views of the rolling hills – it felt like I had walked onto a set for a dreamy musical.

I checked into my cosy little cottage just a hop skip and a jump from the festival grounds and took a moment to marvel at my surroundings. The charming stone cottage with its blooming flower boxes and rustic wooden beams was straight out of a fairytale! Even the view from my window – a picture-perfect scene of emerald green fields meeting the rolling hills with a breathtaking mountain peak in the distance – seemed straight out of a storybook.

I unpacked my sparkly luggage, transforming my little haven into a miniature Pink Tutu Wonderland. Fairy lights twinkling in the corners, vibrant pink ribbons draping around my antique writing desk, and a mountain of pink tulle filling a corner, just waiting for a good twirl.

After freshening up and settling in, I decided to embrace the festival vibes by donning a playful combination of vintage floral dress and sparkly pink tutu for a stroll around the picturesque Kendal town centre. It was like walking into a colourful, vibrant tableau! From independent boutiques bursting with unique treasures to bustling cafes serving steaming mugs of hot chocolate, I could tell Kendal was a place where creativity blossomed, just like my own fabulous spirit.

I meandered through the charming cobbled streets, admiring the historic architecture, the quaint shops displaying locally crafted jewellery and art, and the charming coffee shops brimming with friendly faces and a warm atmosphere. The streets felt alive with a palpable sense of community and good cheer.

Then, I happened upon the most delightful shop - an enchanting wonderland brimming with antique treasures, handcrafted jewelry, and the most gorgeous display of vintage textiles. And, drumroll please, dear readers, there she was - a glorious, magnificent pink feather boa!

"Just the thing for tonight's performance," I said, grabbing it with a playful smile. The shopkeeper, a kind-faced lady with a twinkle in her eye, couldn't resist a playful giggle. "A pink boa for the Pink Tutu Queen? You know you're destined for stardom, darling!"

Feeling incredibly empowered, I headed back to my little cottage, the anticipation of my upcoming performance building with every step. I knew I was going to rock the stage, channeling the vibrant spirit of Kendal with my dazzling costume, a healthy dose of sparkle, and, of course, the quintessential pink tutu!

As dusk began to paint the sky in hues of orange and purple, I prepared for my first night of performing at the Kendal Calling Festival. The energy of the crowd, the excitement of the music, the laughter echoing through the festival grounds, everything was buzzing with magic. I took a deep breath and walked onto the stage. The lights hit my glittering pink tutu, throwing a dazzling rainbow of colour over the entire crowd. I threw my head back, and began to perform, giving every ounce of my energy to the crowd. I could feel their energy, their cheers, and the thundering rhythm of the music coursing through me. And in that moment, all the world disappeared, leaving only me, the music, the audience, and the magic of pink tulle swirling around my feet.

In between performances, I couldn't resist indulging in some of the delightful local treats Kendal had to offer. Think mouthwatering homemade cakes from charming little cafes, hearty, delicious soups from bustling food stalls, and local craft beers that perfectly captured the warm, friendly spirit of the festival. Every bite was a delicious explosion of flavour and joy!

I mingled with fellow festivalgoers, shared laughter with friendly faces, and made connections with other passionate souls, from local musicians to fellow creatives who were all united by their love for music, community, and the simple joy of being alive.

One night, after my performance, a little girl in a tiny pink tutu came up to me, wide-eyed with wonder. She shyly asked if she could twirl with me. Of course I said yes! We spent the next few minutes dancing together, her laughter and joyful movements making my heart soar. Seeing her so excited and full of joy – a mini version of my own dreams – filled me with such an immense sense of pride. And in that moment, I knew that I was on the right track, inspiring little dreamers to embrace their own uniqueness, just like my own pink-tutu-wearing heart.

And yes, I’m going to say it - my trip to Kendal Calling was a resounding success, as colourful and flamboyant as my own personality. It was an unforgettable journey filled with laughter, creativity, and the most amazing people, leaving me with a heart brimming with joy and a suitcase full of incredible memories.

My journey isn't about being perfect, it's about finding my own style and celebrating every unique facet of who I am, right down to the whimsical twirl of a pink tutu. Because when we embrace our own individuality, our lives blossom with joy, just like the enchanting Lake District scenery around me. And who knows, perhaps the world just needs a little bit more pink tulle, a whole lot of sparkle, and a whole lot of laughter – and I'm here to spread it all around!

Until next time, dear readers, keep twirling!

XOXO,
