Hiya darlings, it's your Tutu Queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with another dazzling diary entry! Today, we're in the glorious, glittering city of Milan, and let me tell you, my dear readers, this city has a serious sparkle about it.
As you know, I'm all about spreading the joy of tutus, and this trip is all about combining that with another one of my passions – fashion! Milan is the undisputed capital of style, and I'm here to soak it all in, from the grand couture shows to the cute boutiques hidden down charming cobblestone streets. I'm hoping to pick up some fabulous pieces to add to my wardrobe, but don't worry, darling, there'll be plenty of tutus featured!
I must tell you, arriving in Milan by train was quite the adventure. Now, I don't always travel by train. I love nothing more than a horse and cart ride to really experience the landscape, but with the train, I can truly relish those iconic, romantic views! This train was decked out in a stunning array of vibrant pinks and peaches, and, of course, it came complete with its own on-board buffet. You just know my travelling costume was something fabulous: a pale pink tulle tutu, a shimmering sequined crop top, and a giant, fluffy pink hat - just perfect for making a grand entrance!
Before I could even catch my breath from the train journey, I was swept up in the magic of Milan! It's hard to know where to start - from the iconic Duomo to the sprawling Sforza Castle, this city is bursting with history and beauty. The buildings themselves are like sculptures, adorned with intricate details and fascinating architectural styles, and the cobblestone streets feel like they've been whispering stories for centuries.
Now, onto the real reason for my trip: fashion! This city just oozes style, darlings. Everywhere I look, there are chic women strutting about in the latest designs, with flawless makeup and those perfectly sculpted brows that you see in the magazines. Even the men look incredibly dapper in their tailored suits, all looking as though they've just stepped out of a runway show. And, as you can imagine, a Pink Tutu Sparkle on the streets of Milan causes quite a stir. You can't help but turn heads!
Now, some of you might be wondering how I, a simple girl with a love for tutus, affords to gallivant around the world. Well, my dear, you'll be surprised to learn that my love of ballet and tutus doesn't end with my performances, you know. Back in my ordinary world (if you can call it that!), I'm a scientist. A fabric scientist, that is. Yep, I'm helping to develop the softest, smoothest, most amazing materials for clothing! So, while I'm wearing the hottest new fabrics in my dazzling drag performances, I also get to design and test the ones that others will wear.
Speaking of designs, Milan is where dreams are made! From the exclusive boutiques showcasing exquisite couture to the lively vintage stores offering hidden gems, there's something for everyone. The vibrant fabrics, bold colours, and dramatic silhouettes have my senses buzzing. I'm tempted to add some elegant, minimalist numbers to my wardrobe (although the fluffy, brightly-coloured creations will always have my heart).
My days in Milan have been jam-packed, a whirlwind of dazzling experiences:
Fashion Frenzy: My darling, did I mention that I have some fashion inspiration to share? Firstly, I went on an amazing shopping spree at a few iconic Italian department stores. Those windows just screamed for a photo shoot! We even went to a ballet shoe store (not that we need any more tutus, darlings!). That little ballet shoe store was so glamorous.
Dinner and a Show: Oh, how about that delectable three-course Italian dinner at a restaurant perched on the roof of a historical building, gazing at the twinkling lights of the city as I ate the most heavenly ravioli, followed by an incredible ballet performance that made me yearn to take to the stage! That little tutu was jumping for joy. I am truly living the dream, darlings!
Street Style Strolls: My love of tutus knows no boundaries! Walking around the bustling streets of Milan, I can't help but notice the stylish Milanese strutting around with their bold sense of style. Even though I might not technically wear a tutu while shopping, I try my best to add a dash of pink and some sparkles to every outfit I wear!
This weekend I'm going to head to the opera. It seems there's a great big Italian opera going on in the beautiful old opera house. The tutu and I have even more to tell you from Milan in a few days. Until next time, keep your tutus sparkling!
