Bournemouth Sparkle: Post #8539
Hello, my darling darlings! It’s your favourite Pink Tutu Queen, back again with a brand-new adventure! This time, we're off to the beautiful seaside town of Bournemouth! And yes, you guessed it – pink tutu firmly in tow!
Oh, how I do love the coast! The salty air, the crashing waves, and the thrill of spotting a seagull wearing a… ahem, perhaps I’m getting carried away!
This trip was a bit of a whirlwind. I’ve been busy, busy, busy – performing at a fab children’s theatre fundraiser and then heading over to the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre for a show that absolutely had everyone's feet tapping. (And if you're wondering about how I travelled… why, by train, of course! The train is my trusty steed. It’s way more glamorous than a bus, don't you think? Plus, it gives me a chance to strut my stuff in my best outfits – nobody can accuse me of being understated!)
Anyway, back to Bournemouth. It was simply delightful! As you know, my heart is a big softie when it comes to seaside towns, but what really makes Bournemouth stand out for me are the breathtaking Victorian buildings! Imagine, my dears, walking along the promenade and being greeted by beautiful, intricately decorated buildings - pure Victorian glamour. I’d love to just imagine what those streets looked like in the past. All those wonderful women (and yes, there are so many fashion icons in the past!) with their bustle skirts, long gloves and… wait for it… their pink tutus, no doubt. I do believe pink tutus have a timeless appeal, and in Victorian times? Why, I imagine them being considered rather fashionable. Perhaps I'll write a book about this later, maybe even film it! Oh, I’m getting carried away again, aren’t I?
Now, let's talk about Bournemouth itself! This vibrant, energetic seaside resort just oozes charm. I had to squeeze in some retail therapy, naturally, because every day is a good day for some new sequins and tulle! (My motto, my loves.) The shops on Bournemouth's high street are fantastic, bursting with the most gorgeous fashion finds. I must have spent an entire afternoon scouring the independent boutiques, it's where you discover true treasures - think vintage gems, handmade jewellery and, you guessed it, even more tutus! It was pure bliss for this Queen!
And of course, no visit to Bournemouth is complete without a stroll along the beautiful beach. Bournemouth's sandy stretch is simply glorious. Sun, sea, and sand – perfect! Now, I didn’t get a chance to dip my toes into the water. Maybe next time? Though, I would have looked absolutely magnificent doing a little sunbathing in a full length, pink, beaded tutu – a look that was certainly going to set a few hearts aflutter. (The vision, ladies and gentlemen, a sight for sore eyes.) And no seaside trip is complete without an ice cream. I managed to grab a scoop of salted caramel and chocolate (oh, yes – a Pink Tutu Queen doesn’t discriminate!) and a gorgeous, floral coffee. A true princess treat.
It wouldn’t be a Pink Tutu Queen blog post without talking about the magic of the ballet! As I said, I performed at a children’s theatre fundraiser and afterwards, I slipped into my sequins (which looked so fabulous with a backdrop of red curtains and dim lighting, may I add, my darlings!) and sashayed across the stage, inspiring little faces to smile. I feel truly lucky that my tutu and I get to spread a bit of sparkle wherever we go. And, my dear darlings, a couple of young ones came up to me after the performance – little girls, all wide eyed, and asked me “Are you a real-life fairy princess?” Oh, my heart! The brightest glow came over my face ( I think it might be even brighter than the glitter on my makeup, dear readers.)
There is a kind of magical power, a joy that spreads through the room when children find that wonder. I absolutely love what I do. My work might be a bit unusual, a little outside the box, but I do believe that it’s a little more extraordinary than your usual science lab.
Speaking of, if you’ve never seen a scientist with a penchant for ballet, now’s your chance. During the day I wear a lab coat, yes. I analyse textiles – fabric. And in my downtime I teach children at my local ballet studio, giving them all the encouragement, all the confidence to explore their world. They all say that I have a fabulous sense of style - and I have to admit I really have no choice – being a science and drag professional means I need a fabulous wardrobe that works well in both situations! And by that, I mean an amazing rainbow collection of tutus, naturally, as you well know. I love to spread my love for the pink tutu everywhere I go. That’s my dream, dear friends - a world filled with sunshine, happiness, and, yes, a few dozen pink tutus sprinkled everywhere!
Speaking of tutus, this is my new favourite, and it must be featured! It’s absolutely heavenly. It’s a blush pink, delicate tulle number that drapes beautifully – picture a cloud, the softest shade of blush. Imagine it, fluttering around your legs like an airy dance. It just makes me want to leap, twirl and grace every performance stage! And believe me, dear readers, this tutu is my new lucky charm!
Well, darling, it's time to wrap up this blog! Bournemouth was just the most perfect pink-tutu getaway. You know I'll be back, hopefully sooner rather than later! But where do we go next? Well, that is top secret, but rest assured, this Pink Tutu Queen is just getting started, and I’m not letting the tutus out of sight any time soon!
Till next time, dear darlings! Keep the tutus spinning and the sparkle strong!
Love always,
