Longton: Tutu-ing Up the North! ✨ (Blog Post #8751)

Hello, darlings! It’s Pink Tutu Sparkles, here, fresh off the train and ready to twirl! Longton, you glorious little town, I’m finally here, and it's a pink-tastic time to be alive! You might remember me, a little pink flamingo flitting through your local drag scene? 💅💋 But let's backtrack a moment and recap my whirlwind trip to this charming spot…

It’s all thanks to that magical mix of theatre, fashion, and trains that brought me to your neck of the woods. Now, as you know, I love a good train journey. There's just something about watching the world go by as you chug along, feeling all that Victorian grandeur mixed with a bit of steam-punk whimsy. Plus, you can never go wrong with a good cuppa and a slice of cake on a train, and a fellow tutu-lover knows, a bit of sugar is always a great fuel for the sparkly soul. 😉

This time around, I had the ultimate thrill of reaching Longton in style! Imagine it - a hot pink, bejeweled train carriage fit for a queen! It was a bit like Cinderella's pumpkin carriage on speed, except with wheels and not a glass shoe in sight. 👠

I knew I had to wear something spectacular for this journey, something worthy of this pink palace on wheels! My stylist, dear Dolly Dazzle, whipped up a magnificent gown, fit for a queen with a dash of Victorian flair - layers of tulle and ribbons, with sparkling gems galore, of course! She topped it all off with a massive pink feather boa for added drama. You've got to make a statement on the train, right? ✨

And let's not forget the reason I was whisked away on this glorious journey! I had the incredible opportunity to perform in Longton! A charming little venue, The Lavender Lilac, which felt like stepping into a forgotten storybook. Imagine a mix of grandma's antique shop and a fairy's secret garden, and you have an idea. And it was packed! I loved seeing all those lovely faces.

For my act, I went for a vintage ballerina theme. Think ‘Swan Lake’ meets ‘Great Gatsby’! Glittering tutus, feather boas, and some sparkly pink heels with little white pearls adorning them! The audience, they were mesmerized! The cheers! The laughs! The little kids with their mouths wide open, it was divine!

But that wasn't all! After the show, I found myself walking down Longton's historic streets, feeling like a sparkly pink princess. There were cobblestones, quirky little shops, and these incredible flower baskets overflowing with colours! It's no wonder Longton is famous for its beauty! It just so happens to be where I found the cutest little boutique! Rows upon rows of delicate, shimmering, utterly fabulous clothes that I simply had to bring back with me. I am still recovering from that shopping spree, darling!

Let's talk food! I'm not going to lie, it was delicious! My dear Dolly and I were so spoilt for choice, there's a hidden gem around every corner, from scrumptious little cafés to Michelin star restaurants with a dash of British quirk. Imagine – delicate afternoon tea served on dainty china, with scones the size of your head and finger sandwiches bursting with flavor. And let's not forget those homemade cakes! They're almost too pretty to eat, but it's rude not to, am I right? 😋

I couldn't resist the chance to go to a proper afternoon tea party! Dolly was delighted - she even managed to find a local boutique that was selling the cutest tea sets. My teacup even had a picture of a swan on it - it was meant to be!

Now, here's a secret I'm spilling, just for my loyal blog followers. You might not know this, but Longton is renowned for its exquisite pottery! They even have their very own Royal Doulton factory! Can you believe it? 🤯

For a queen like me, the idea of handcrafted ceramics with their own story to tell is absolutely thrilling. So, we spent a morning browsing the shops, picking out beautiful mugs and little dishes in those rich earthy colors and classic floral patterns! Who wouldn't love a piece of history on their table, with a touch of the finest artistry? I just had to take home a teacup painted with swans - matching my special teacup - I am nothing if not predictable, darling!

Of course, my journey wasn’t just about the tea and tutus. It was about discovering new places and finding my little piece of Longton magic.

Now, remember how I love those horse-drawn carriages? It wouldn't be a true adventure without at least one carriage ride! Dolly, ever the good sport, agreed to ride with me! We took a leisurely trot through the park, feeling like princesses from a long-lost fairytale. The fresh air, the horses, the soft clopping sounds on the cobbles - it was truly enchanting. And, to be honest, the whole town was aglow in a pink, rosy glow, a perfect way to end my delightful adventure.

Longton, you’ve enchanted my heart. The sweetness, the stories whispered by every brick, and that gorgeous, oh so wonderful history. I'll be back, darling, that's for sure!
