Now, I’m not going to lie, travelling by train isn’t always the most glamorous way to get around, but when you’re rocking a pink tutu as your signature style, you make the journey part of the show! And honestly, let’s give it up for those British railways! The carriage may have been a little squashed, but I got some seriously sassy looks from fellow passengers, and those little kids’ faces – pure delight! You just can't beat that infectious joy!
Speaking of joy, Nottingham, you truly have a heart of gold! From the moment I stepped out onto the cobbled streets, the air was electric with a mix of excitement and friendly chatter. I spotted a vintage bookstore crammed with literary treasures and, naturally, I couldn't resist dipping in for a quick browse (you can never have too many books, darling!) It was just the dose of culture my artistic soul needed.
And the food, oh the food! I was charmed by the local charm of the little independent cafés and pubs - they all seemed to be offering the most amazing pastries, warm pies, and locally brewed beers. It's no wonder they call Nottingham the “City of Caves,” because I felt like I was discovering a hidden treasure every time I turned a corner!
The true magic of Nottingham unfolded when I reached the Theatre Royal. The theatre itself is breathtaking – a piece of Victorian elegance, standing proud in the heart of the city. This majestic theatre has played host to Shakespeare, Dickens, and even the Queen herself! To be performing there felt like stepping into a fairytale.
My show tonight, let me tell you, was absolutely divine! The energy from the audience was incredible, a real mix of families, theatre goers, and locals, all embracing the magic of a pink tutu! I threw in some sassy dance moves (the tutu twirling was in top form, of course!), a few cheeky jokes about lab coats and scientific experiments (who said scientists can't be funny!), and all of it was met with roaring laughter and thunderous applause.
The most heartwarming moment, however, came after the performance. A little girl, no more than 5 years old, came up to me, her eyes wide with wonder. She wore the most beautiful sparkly pink dress and shyly said, "You're my hero, Pink Tutu Sparkles!” I was utterly melted! I’m living proof that dreams are made of glitter and tutus, and that even a small spark of inspiration can go a long way.
After the performance, I wandered through the streets, taking in the sights and sounds of Nottingham after dark. The city lights danced across the buildings, a kaleidoscope of colour and beauty. As I sipped my hot chocolate, feeling the warm embrace of this vibrant city, I knew I would always remember this night.
