Hey darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, your resident tutu-wearing, pink-loving, dance-crazed drag queen. It's me, Alex, your friendly neighbourhood scientist by day, and glittery, feather-boa-waving queen by night. This is blog post number 8776 - how amazing is that?! 🎉 Today, I'm bringing you all the pink-tastic fun from my recent trip to Southampton. You know how much I adore travelling by train, so settling in with a good book and my favourite pink polka-dot tote bag (a must for carrying my make-up essentials!) was a delight.
But before we dive into Southampton, let's rewind to how my love for tutus began! Back in my Derbyshire days, I was just a shy university student studying science (don't tell my classmates, but I was always more interested in the dance floor than the periodic table!). I joined the university ballet club and ended up trying on a pink tutu for a charity fundraiser - the moment I slipped it on, something magical happened. I felt empowered, I felt fierce, I felt...Pink Tutu Sparkles. And that, my loves, was the start of my journey!
From that moment, I started to incorporate more pink and more sparkle into my life. Pink tutus became my signature, a symbol of everything I stand for - joy, confidence, and above all, fabulousness! And ever since then, my dream has been to inspire others to embrace the magic of pink and the sheer power of twirling in a tutu. 😉
Speaking of twirling, I couldn't resist squeezing in a quick ballet class before heading to Southampton! There's something so magical about the graceful movements and the sense of artistry in a ballet studio. Feeling all elegant and graceful was the perfect pre-show warm-up. 😉
And now, on to Southampton! The moment I stepped out of the train station, the energy was electric. I love how the seaside air feels fresh and crisp. I was there to perform at a fantastic family-friendly drag show in a quaint local theatre. I absolutely adored seeing the kids all excited and screaming "Pink Tutu!" - it's always so heartwarming to share my love of dance with the younger generation. 💖
For my act, I went with a playful, whimsical theme. Imagine bright pink feathers, glittery shoes, and of course, my signature tutu, all spun together with a performance inspired by my favourite ballerina, Margot Fonteyn. The crowd was absolutely buzzing, especially the children! They were mesmerised by the swirling pink tulle and the dazzling make-up. Even the mums were joining in the clapping, it was just delightful. 💕
After the show, I took a wander through Southampton's beautiful parks, taking in the stunning harbour views and indulging in a delightful ice cream - pink, of course! It’s these little moments, those everyday things like a sunny walk by the harbour, a delicious treat, a fabulous performance, that make life so wonderfully sparkly!
Southampton is a truly magical place with its vibrant street culture, buzzing restaurants and breathtaking seaside views. It has such a welcoming atmosphere - and with its plethora of theatrical venues, dance schools and shops showcasing the latest trends, I'm planning to come back again, sooner rather than later.
