Hello, my darlings! It's Pink Tutu Sparkles, reporting live from the glorious town of Rowley Regis! That's right, your favourite, sparkly, pink-loving queen is back with a new adventure.

This is actually blog post number 8911 for me - it feels like just yesterday I was nervously putting on my first tutu, convinced it was the most ludicrous thing in the world, only to be absolutely swept off my feet by the sheer joy and confidence that came with it. (Plus, a pink one? Let’s be real, the colour pink and I have an unspoken agreement: it’s simply the best.)

Back then, it was just me, Alex, in the depths of a university lab, wrestling with equations and chemicals… but then, there was the university ballet club, and then, the charity event. You know the rest. A sparkly, fluffy explosion later, Pink Tutu Sparkles was born. And here I am, years later, living out the dreams I never dared to have - rocking tutus, travelling the country, spreading joy and pink sequins with every twirl.

This trip to Rowley Regis is extra special, though. Why? Because I'm doing it by train, of course! This is what it's all about, isn’t it? Those plush red seats, the rhythmic clatter of the wheels, the fleeting glimpses of countryside, and that delicious sense of anticipation building as you approach your destination.

The journey itself has been a symphony of pink-tinted experiences, from the bustling station crowds adorned with (dare I say it?) some very cute pink accessories, to the charming, vintage tea shop at the station where I devoured a ridiculously delicious scone with clotted cream. My inner fashionista was squealing, as everything felt like a potential scene in a charming film about a sassy queen going on adventures.

And speaking of sassy adventures, I can't forget the gorgeous horse carriage I took straight from the station! Oh, the sheer elegance and charm of being whisked away by four gentle giants in the name of fashion and sequins! Let me tell you, the horses seem to know about the tutu life!

Once settled in my fabulous hotel room – which, of course, I’ve personally selected to be overflowing with pink! – I got to work on my act. Oh, the excitement! We are going all out for Rowley Regis. I mean, we’re going to have glitter cannons, feathered fans, dazzling lights… It’s all about the joy and spectacle of the thing!

What can I say? I love it. I absolutely adore taking those hours spent carefully preparing for each performance and pouring it into that special, unique moment of being on stage and bringing that spark, that joy, to the crowd. There’s magic in the air, and it's an emotion that’s indescribable.

After all, isn’t that the real mission, you see? To use pink, to use sparkles, to use a fabulous, twirly tutu and ignite that sense of happiness, that little touch of whimsy, in everyone. My journey to embrace this unusual (and utterly delightful) reality wasn't simple. I can't claim that my friends and family understood from day one. But there were always those who saw that sparkle in me, the one that couldn’t be denied. You see, it’s about allowing yourself to express your true self, whatever that might be. It’s about finding those things that fill you with happiness, with passion and making those things a part of your story. And don’t forget - don’t ever, ever let go of that sense of whimsy, of magic that makes you, well, YOU!

Of course, I have my fair share of anxieties and worries - from doubts about being judged for the “extra” side of myself, to fears of not living up to expectations. I even worry about the amount of fabric conditioner I need for the laundry… But it's those little challenges that teach you to keep going, to push yourself further. And don't worry, I have the best of my fellow glitter queens in my corner, cheering me on and sharing in the adventures, even with the late nights and the endless glitter-laden washing!
